Amazon sellers - Express Delivery ??
Discussion
Just wondered if any of you guys who sell on Amazon, offers their 'Express' delivery service? I've never offered it before because unsure if the customer expects you to send the item Special Delivery (which is very expensive - Royal Mail) or if you can just dispatch same/next day via first class (I use Royal Mail) so the customer should receive the item in 1-3 days from point of order - which is technically quicker than 'Standard' delivery.
Isn't that why many buyers on Amazon have a Prime account because they want the item next day? As to whether express means next day I am not so sure.
Fairly sure that Amazon still use 1st class post for some next day stuff. I guess it depends on what the charge is, and whether it is likely to arrive next day. So if the description says "Orders received before 3pm processed and posted same day" and then the delivery method is given as 1st class post then the buyer knows where they stand, and knows the delay is due to the Royal Mail.

We offer this service and we use Special Delivery for it. We charge something daft like £9.99 as Special is so expensive, but we still get 3-5 sales a day with customers opting for it. The cut-off for the item to arrive next day is order placed by 1:30pm.
When we first offered it I did consider that 1st Signed For (you have to have tracking on it), would probably do, but you're soon in the mire with Amazon if you don't meet their performance expectations and 1st is not guaranteed.

As a business we have also just set up shop so to speak on Amazon. I have to admit that it is a someone overwhelming procedure (we already have an eBay shop and a website). As we sell car parts, the weight of the items can vary dramatically and we have found the way we have to set postage quite frustrating!
We will persevere, but as the member of staff tasked with dealing with Amazon, I have a sore head from banging it against my desk so much!
