The amount of clients who think they know it all is very annoying.

Similar to a thread on here the other day about how it only takes a couple of hours to do a limited company accounts!!

This to me sounds like you havent completed the submission yet, so according to their rules, they send a fine.

It does amuse me that they can issue a fine pretty quickly, but an email answer can take 6 weeks.

I always assumed that the onus was on me to make sure I was squeaky clean rather than them to tell me I wasnt. Not how I'd prefer it, but that's what we got I guess.

It's all automated. No humans are involved in the process.

Return not logged by computer as having been received = automatic penalty.

With MTD this will be happening at least FIVE times a year. For some people - maybe double or triple that - depending on what data they need to return to HMRC.
