This might help tame the wild west !

This gating has been applied across certain categories but it is not an exhaustive list to it's possible to be added to certain other products outside of these categories.

While sellers can apply for approval to sell some of these products others such as lighting currently have no path forward so sellers can't request approval to sell but this could change in the future so keep an eye out for it.

I do apologise I can't give you a set list of products that have this gating but I have listed some of the categories below.

· Baby Car Seats
· Baby Food and Formula
· Batteries
· Chargers
· Children’s Costumes
· Cooks' Tools
· Dietary Supplements
· Learning Toys
· Medical Supplies and Equipment
· Pet Care Products
· Radio Controlled Toys
· Seasonal Lighting

We sell on Amazon in one of these categories and I can't say I've noticed any change. Do you say this has already come in or will be coming in?

"Wild west" is probably not a bad way to describe it. Most of these cats look to ones that may have consumer safety issues so I can see why they've been chosen. Someone's going to have a bit of job weeding out the unwanted existing sellers of these products if that's how they choose to do it, rather than just preventing new offers.

Its in now and running, I have a test product that we are trying to get all competition eliminated from selling (as a trial) and the start of the cycle is to gate it which they have. Next we look at items not based in the UK .......

So it's something that you as a seller instigate, rather than Amazon pro-activley doing it?

As a company that is UK registered and pays UK VAT and corporation tax on all sales, and whose products meet all UK and EU safety standards, I would like to get rid of the some of the foreign-based competition offering all sorts of tat and I'm sure not paying VAT from some of our categories.

I made them aware of the item and our concerns, after a few weeks our new test account could not list against the asin and got a message that the cat was closed and not accepting new sellers.
