THIS ONE (developed by a PistonHeader, though he's now sold it on for a tidy sum) is an example of how to do it right:
Oh wow I didn't realise he had sold it.

I remember the thread on here. Right from the beginning. "I'm thinking of doing this". "How do I create logo", "how do I build a tree house" etc, "we've got our first customer" and so on, One of the great PH threads to see a business grow from nothing. Hat tip for sure. Chuffed that he's sold for a profit, I'm not sure if that was the underlying plan but if it was, it was executed to perfection.

I think OP may be underestimating the maintenance required to upkeep such a property.

The example posted on the previous page, IMO would take at least 2 people full time employees + Op’s friend to upkeep.

Most things go in cycles

We retired to France a 54 and made some good money with the new build holiday homes for couples. Followed by a long winter break in Spain. During the 17-years we did it, the business model changed and became dominated by AirBnN types wanting a 3-day break.

It made the perfect switch from real work to real retirement. We do not miss it.
