I’m looking to mask my business address now we’ve given the office up. I’m currently using my home address as a temporary measure, but would prefer to have something longer term set to a PO Box, or something similar.

Likewise. The new fibre connection no longer uses a landline so I’d like to setup a VOIP service so I can still take ‘landline’ calls instead of using a mobile number on the website.

Any recommendations for this service?

If this is a limited company you cannot use a PO Box for a registered office address.

On the topic of voip I’m with bt. There will be cheaper options but it means you can port a landline number if you want to.

I find it reliable and pay £20 a month. I bounce calls to the landline number straight to my mobile.

Plenty of options out there for registered address services, some look a bit more obvious than other. I pay around £100 year for director and registered office and it does the job.

I've used voipfone.co.uk for probably 15 years without any issues. Always happy to recommend them. Don't know how well they'll integrate with your BT router but I just use a cisco deskphone and it works fine. Any hardware of software which uses SIP should suffice.

I use Vonage for my VOIP. It's about 15 quid a month. And they give you a phone.

Have used them for over 12 years now. Never had any issues.

Thanks for the replies. I’ll check the VOIP suggestions out.

What options are there for a postal address for a Limited company? That’s my main criteria really, as the home address doesn’t look very ‘professional’ in my view.

How would they know it's your home address? Many business we supply are for example HSBC, 40 North St, Taunton etc.

What is to say it's a residential address.

Just usebyour company name and your home address.

https://www.global-virtualoffices.com/g-services/ I know a few who have used that - think it scans post and send on and all that.

The address is clearly a residential address with the road naming. Also, when pitching for work it’s an easy google search to reveal the location. I’m wanting to ‘mask’ this aspect of the company.

What about having your registered address at your accountants?

They are stopping you doing that now, or making it harder to be legal

Really? The Gov UK page still says it's OK:

Yes as i was told by my accountant, its to do with the address given needs to have someone on site who is "acting on behalf of the company"

A document addressed to the company, and delivered there by hand or by post, would be expected to come to the attention of a person acting on behalf of the company

The change mentioned changes nothing in relation to using your accountant as your registered business address. The accountant is a person acting on behalf of the company. If someone thinks otherwise they are putting 2 + 2 together and getting 5. The change mentioned is specifically that you can't use a PO Box as a registered address, which is already mentioned in the gov uk page here https://www.gov.uk/limited-company-formation/compa...
