Google Adsense, etc

Hi,

I've had an idea of developing a website that is a free service but will generate revenue from google. yahoo adsense, etc.

Has anyone had any experience with the above, does it make you any money, do you have any links to resources covering the above, etc?

Just a helping hand on what it's all about would be great.
