Hi Chaps,

I have a friend (who has no access to internet) who has slight problems with Lettings Agency.

He is renting a property and Lettings Agency is looking after the property on the Landlord's behalf....There are some issues such as tower rail is broken and that needs to be fixed...he asked them to get someone round last September to fix it....nothing has been resolved yet!!! The Lettings Agency is really slow...

Should my friend inform the Landlord about the level of service he has received from the Lettings Agency ? Or should he bother the Lettings Agency again?

Please help!

Thanks

T

Did he put it in writing?

If he has not done so, do this. That way the exact date and the complaint is there for all to see *and prove* later.

If the agency are looking after the property then they should arrange for things to be done. Your friend should put his points in writing and give them a reasonable period to deal with the items.

If he doesn't get a response after a reasonable period then in his position I would send a copy to the landlord direct. The landlord is paying the agents so should be aware of the level of their service.

Having said that, if it's just small items like towel rails (I imagine tower was a typo?) then it's not likely to be very high up on anyone's priority list but I guess they should be done. The landlord will end up paying for tradesmen to come out though.
