Do any PHers have any thoughts on the CTA course? Is it worth doing? I ask as I know it is very hard and has a 33% pass mark!

I have done the CTA course and passed. The hardest exams I have ever sat. Is it worthwhile? Depends what you line of work you are in and if it is relevant. I certainly found it useful as it goes way beyond the ICAEW/ACCA level. I sat this in about 2002 (from memory).

I'm doing CTA at the moment - May 2008 sitting.

Honest answer is only do it if you can commit maximum time to it. Before doing it I did ATT which was very easy and took up very little of my spare time. CTA is in a different league and you often hear rumours that the CIOT deliberately keep the pass rate down to maintain its relative exclusivity.

That being said I should be doing some now! Business Income Tax & VAT and Law & Ethics link exams on Feb 11th.

If you want to know anything else pm/ mail me.

Agree with time commitment, no point trying if you can't offer 100% of your spare time to it.
