Self service jet wash.
Discussion
I´m thinking about starting self service jet wash company. In the beginning 2 bays and if things work out then add 2 more. Is here somebody who has some kind relation with ssjw (owner, supplier etc)? If someone knows ssjw webapages (i have some, but i´d like more) that would be great. Any advice would be great.
theres one of these in bilston ( between wednesbury and wolverhampton ) opporsite a peugeot dealership
i drive past it atleast 6 times per week day and night...
and todate... ive only ever seen 1 person using it. i went to use it once.. for air. but it wasnt free air so i left.
in the age of the £2.50 full-service gravel wash, i dont think anyone bothers anymore with jetwashes ?

Don't think they're in the UK yet but might be worth a bit of research - they're big in France. Used them myself a couple of times when on holiday just to get the worst of the grime off after long cross-country hacks.

The 'pay as you go' style machines are pretty good. I've seen them most frequently in Tescos.
£1 gets you 3 minutes but you can choose whichever function you want so you don't run out of time, then you can just feed the metre.
I'd never fully wash my car with a jet wash but if it's very dirty I often pay a pound and use the fresh water jet for 3 minutes to get the worst of the grime off and spray under the car as I don't have a hose, let alone a jet wash, at home.

I used to use a Tesco jetwash when I lived near one. £3 to clean the car on the way home from an evening out when there was no queue. It always seemed busy during the day. Although there was no immigrant car wash in the area.
Blimey, Immigrants have cars these days! Next, they'll be wanting jobs and houses...I have a mate who has been in the petrol forecourt jet wash business prodviding equipment and servicing for a good 15 years and thanks to immigrants doing the £3/ £5 hand wash business off abandoned ( or just rented) petrol forecourts the money just isn't in jet washing anymore.
My friend investigated the free standing self service jet wash concept thoroughly, using the French systems and set up as a starting point, has got all the equipment specced up, knows exactly what to manufacture, how to manufacture it, what to install and how to ensure a low maintenance operation..... but has put the whole concept on hold. It just didnt stack up in todays market.
He now makes as much on providing air machines, including nitrogen systems, as he did on jet washes.
My advice is investigate, but be prepared to be disappointed.
Cheers,
Tony

I am well positioned to comment on this topic, owning and operating a self service wash centre.
You will need a "mega" location or prime town centre site to get noticed and for people to use it and then spend a kings ransom to develope it. My advice is put your money in the building society...you will earn more sitting on your back side .
I love my job but I dont do it for the money !
Eds Car Wash, Anyone used it in Lowestoft.

theres one in basildon essex.its pretty much always busy.the key to it is all the rude boys in their saxos not trusting the polish to clean their cars(fair enough)
if you can do it in an area near to where all the bad boys hang about your laughing.
it is in a prime location too-opposite a 24hr tesco
