Make friends with someone within a corporate finance house. I highly recommend Haines Watts, but speak with somebody at a mid to senior level within your local/trusted/prefered group, they should be able to give you some guidance as to who to speak with about your future plans.

Have you also made yourself available to be a non-exec director? A good way to boost your perception prior to approaching a company with a view to MBI/BIMBO negotiations, and an ideal route to meeting similarly minded people.

I thought Haines Watts were a firm of Chartered Accountants?

They have a corporate finance arm, which is actually a separate company with a number of franchise-esque branches, called HW Corporate Finance. I know them well - very good indeed.
