What is the best web site for share dealing etc etc. Looking on iii.co.uk at the moment. Are there and better ones? I am just interested to learn about all types of trading and I need it to be user friendly!!

Thanks Guys And Gals!

I use iii as a broker - they're pretty good and competitive. I wouldn't recommend them for spread betting (they use Finspreads) and there's a lot of bad things said about them (finspreads). Were you looking to buy shares, or trade via CFDs/spread bet?

Really not quite sure i just have a general interest in learning and hopefully pick up on a certain type of trading. I only really want to start with an opening balance of £5000 and to see some daily change would be good. What type of trading would you recommend for a budding beginner!? I have no great hope of making huge sums of money! Just to expand my knowledge of money markets and the economy etc etc.

Depends on your risk profile, how much time you're willing to put in, how long you're willing to hold a position for and what sort of returns you really expect to make.

Spread betting offers a cheap way to trade and you can see returns very quickly as you don't have to incur the costs of commission, stamp duty and profits are exempt from capital gains tax. If you were thinking of equities and had a 10% stop loss for example, there's no dis-advantage in taking the same size position as a spread bet (as long as you don't over-leverage yourself.)

It all depends on the first few points I made and what instrument you're really looking to trade.
