How do you go about getting one of these done, if you are self employed?

Having looked at the .gov website about it, it seems it can't be done??

Cheers

You need an Umbrella company. Google "CRB Umbrella Company" and you'll find a shedload of them out there. No particular recommendation, but they ought not to charge an excessive fee for the service, and it ought to be back fairly rapidly - I think Capita cleared most of the backlog by shipping the forms off to India.

Hi Ralph

As mentioned you will need to go through an Umbrella Body who will tell you what proof of information / identification your require.

Probably best to choose one close to you as the umbrella body must see originals of ID and copy them.

The main thing is.. Why do you need one?
Each CRB is effectively for one premises so if you are looking for one for for a number of premises make sure that your "clients" will be happy to accept a generic CRB i.e one without their name on it.

Good luck

Crazy as it sounds, it's not strictly possible for the self employed to get a CRB done.

I believe there was a thread on here not too long ago just about this.

It depends under what auspices you need to have one. Is it in respect of the self-employment activity or is it an extraneous activity (youth club, school, scouts etc)?
