Seveeral of us that opt for the car allowance ,have been told that we will now have to take a company car ,has anyone else had this forced upon them and would it be seen as a change in Ts and Cs ?

Sorry to muscle in on your thread, but it's a similar problem. I've had company cars for just over 5 years now and we've just been issued with new T's & C's which include a paragraph which states that, in the case of an accident, the company reserves the right to dock the insurance excess and any uninsured losses from our salary!!!?? I've not had an accident in the time I've been with the company, but Im still going to ask them to take the company car back and let me have an allowance to run my own car!!

It depends what your T&Cs are!

If your contract says they can they can. If it guarantees an allowance without any other caveats then they can't.

this was something that is written into my T&C's. I get money guaranteed for four years. They did recently try and get people to change but then pulled back on the decision.

As has been said - it depends on your original employment contract.

If the contract makes no mention of the situation surrounding employees and cars, then it can probably do what it wants.
