I looked at leasing for my buisness, advised by the accountant's that due to my mileage (30k year) that it was not really viable. Any thoughts, I have a ltd company and I'm told traditional company car is probably the best option.

I'm not sure with your mileage if an expensive company car is the way to go (Eric can supply tax figures I'm sure but would require cost of vehicle etc ) I own my own LTD Co and have completely opted out of a company car scheme based on the fact that as a 40% tax payer my last 4.8iS X5 cost me somewhere in the region of £2k+ a month nett out of my salary adding together car and fuel benefit (I think it was nearer £2.5k). Tax on company cars and free fuel is crippling to say the least. I thought sod that and bought myself a 535D, pay myself a healthy car allowance (taxable of course) and claim back mileage at the current rate. I cover somewhere around 25k per year and my figures suggest I'm better off
It's worth presenting all of the figures to your accountant and they should be able to give you a pretty good idea of the most cost effective solution.

Sorry to hijack this thread.... My wife is a dentist, self employed at present... was thinking of leasing a car no more that 500/month. She will be using the the car for work for 90% of the time, approx 10% personal use. Can she write down 90% of the cost of the lease in the tax return?? ...any ideas
many thanks for any advice
