Can't offer any business advice but I can tell you what keeps me and many others going back to the sandwich shop near where I work. Manages to attract blokes in hard hats and suits with a huge baps
Always helps to have a couple of young busty girls behind the counter.......biggrin

If you are prepared to do sale or return for local businesses and your sandwiches are very good, don't discount preparing and selling sandwiches to other businesses in your local area. Your local garage, supermarket and paper shop may all be prepared to stock your sandwiches if they are good.

Make sure you do a good coronation chicken sandwich. The importance of this CANNOT be overstated.

To add to the start up costs:

Training. Isn't there a need to have a food management/health and safety type training certification?

Going slightly off topic, one thing I could often do with when working away is a decent home cooking type meal in the early evening.

That's an interesting idea.

When you find the premises you want, be very careful with respect to the lease - especially if you are buying an existing lease and assigning it from the previous owner. There are a lot of completely ridiculously one-sided and very onerous leases still running... a hangover from the good times. If a vacant A3 - A5 property comes up, give this preference if you are able to negotiate terms from scratch.
