How to construct and print a mailing list???
Discussion
I'm compiling a mailing list of around 5000 addresses which I will be printing onto labels to stick onto envelopes.
I'm basically manually picking addresses from my own sources and compiling them into a form that I can use for a mailing list for a business. The easiest way for me would be to probably cut and paste each address onto a template on word but are there better ways to organise my data so I can use it for other things in the future.
How should I hold my data in the first place. Are there specific programs where I can copy and paste address data which would be easily printable. Does excel do this too. Also, should I invest in a label printer, or will a regular printer with those A4 sticker label sheets be similar in cost and ease. Would a printing company be able to even print the addresses directly onto envelopes or stickers cheaper (what format would the expect it in).
Thanx

Putting the DPA aside for a mo, if you have these in Outlook you can automatically have the fields mapped into a word document then windowed envelopes are your friend!
Although at 5k it's probably worth getting a proper mailing co to do it for you (something about dying from a thousand cuts?)- I know a very good/reliable one (used for 10+ years) - PM for details.
Anyhoo, why are you snail-mailing them?
I can help you out with email marketing and do special discounted rates for fellow PHers (have a fair few on the books) - see profile for website.
Either way happy to help with contacts etc.
Donny.

A label printer beats A4 sheets of labels.. but tbh only for small volumes.
I'd be tempted to do a mailmerge and then define your addresses and mailmerge
them into a letter and have windowed envelopes, but you'll be folding a lot of
paper, or sending them out in (more costly) A4 sized envelopes..
Indeed, as someone has asked why snail mail? You could PDF them and attach to an
email... (CutePDF - free to download and use and doesn't put an identifier/watermark
on the created PDF)
