You don't need a high profile if you are a good self-publicist, especially if you do have a bit of cash of your own too.

Don't underestimate the power of the self fulfilling prophecy. If you go around telling everyone how rich you are then some people will extend credit way beyond your earning, let alone paying back, potential.
Oooh, interesting. wink

SA is a product of the MySpace generation. Everyone wants to be his "mate" because he's "known".

Meh.

Couldn't agree more! There are so many people who seem to be "famous" for absolutely nothing and have no discernible talent other than a name. Forget Paris Hilton, what about anything Geldof or Osbourne.

Fair play though, if he's managed to blag all this stuff and get in the media with no legit company behind him they he's having the last laugh I suppose!

I think this man is actually worse than SA. At least SA is not wasting peoples' time.

I have no idea and am ambivilent to him. I had always assumed he did ok for himself, but not as great as he made out. I'm guessing he just has the benefits of rich friends & clients for which he was happy to be the face of in return for the use of their stuff, he is without doubt a publicity machine.
This thread was my introduction to Scott Alexander, and this is my consulsion too.

He's also injecting enough growth hormone to down an ape.

He's probably blackmailing Cliff Richard...
Most plausible theory yet!

Is there any actual proof of his wealth or does he just talk about it? A lot.

Quite a good way to build himself up as a brand.

True. I just googled his cars when you wrote this to see what he has. Notice here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8agbvmnEpk he "owns" an SLR, Kahn Rangie and a 911. Yet the only one you see him drive and the only one they blank the plate out on is the 911. A quick google of the reg on the SLR, 51R, says it is owned by Mr Kahn of Kahn designs - who coincidentally gets a very good product placement of one of his cars.

If I was cynical I'd suggest Mr Kahn lent SA an SLR to make him look cool and rich in return for him getting one of his body-kitted monstrosities some TV exposure. Lucky I'm not cynical hey wink

Cars: He leases a 911. As far as I know that's all he "owns".

He must have some connection with a well-known Manchester car hire place as I've often see his cars parked outside their office wink

Just read (some parts of) this thread

I have no idea who this chap is, but £120m t/o sounds like complete bks
If he's as flash as the Daily Flail article seemed to explain, I can't see anyone buying anything from him whether services or investments.

Money (or credit), it's true, does not buy taste.

I think people like this just wind me up because when people make stuff up to the extent he seems to be, does he think everyone is a mug? Does he think that no body will find out?

If you're in the business of supercar rental it's not hard to be seen around in flash cars, and would probably do your brand no harm at all to be seen as an uber rich playboy.

So who actually owns that lambo Murci W88 PON?. I saw it in london couple of years back, but i couldnt see who was driving. I think what we have here is a small time self promoter. Get seen everywhere, in the right metal, make out you are a buy to let millionaire, which iis what he did, nothing gets people more interested in you than 'how did he get rich?. Once youve been in a few cheap tv productions with borrowed cars, then people notice you big time. The playboy lifestyle is one a lot of people want, so to see someone on tv claiming to be that person will soon get quite big exposure. Wouldnt surprise me if he borrows the flat for tv work, and actaully lives with his mum in salford.
