Wassuuuup.

Me and 3 others are making our way up to Pistonfest from Brentwood and were wondering if anyone would care to join us on the way?

I wonder how the numbers are looking now! smile

All 4 attendees in one go? How will the parking attendents cope?

We're supposed to be going up from Southend on Sea so would be interested in a convoy. Just as long as the chim is back from the trim shop.
what time and where's the meet up?

As the other threads have now been closed, I thought I would respond on this one.

I see that PH have now decided to cancel PF.

It's not a shocker is it really?

I hope some lessons have been learned from this, and future events will be given more time and proper planing!

I'm actually shocked.

I know numbers were poor but I still thought it'd go ahead, not be cancelled less than 2 weeks before the event.

Well thats fking st.

Especially rubbish, given that on Wed 11th June it was stated by @Eybic "As of 2 days ago, we have committed to the venue. The event WILL be going ahead whether it's with 50 or 300 people"

Honestly at this point I won't take anything from 'modern PH towers' seriously unless it's backed by the stamp of Sir Ted himself (backing up / taking PH back)

It is with great regret that due to low ticket sales we have made the difficult decision to cancel PistonFest 2014. Events like PistonFest are intended to be fun and appealing to our community, but also prove a challenge in getting the right level of content vs. the cost of tickets. Clearly we got it wrong with PistonFest. But hey, nobody is perfect We’ve got plenty of other ideas for events that we’ll continue to work on in the background and we’re looking forward to getting some feedback from the community in due course and bringing lots of exciting events to life in the future.

The good news is that Sunday Services continue to be a smash hit, and the one that was scheduled to happen the day after PistonFest is still going ahead and already has over 600 cars signed up. Furthermore, most of the activities, guests and goodies that were arranged for PistonFest have been transferred over to the Sunday so it’s set to be a fantastic day. There are still some places so to add your name to the list, click here.

So, this mega-sunday-service will benefit from:
Catering to provide you with some much needed Sunday morning food (bacon) and a van supplying some lovely refreshments including gourmet coffee.
Dunlop are still offering goodies, including the chance to win a set of tyres for your car
Caterham will still be holding their wheel change challenge with some great prizes for the fastest time.
Autoglym will also be there with some goodie bags, valeting demos and also offering a fantastic prize to the winner of the show and shine to go to their lab and have your car cleaned to a professional standard, they’ll even show you how to do it so you’ll have no excuse for not having an immaculate car in the middle of winter.
There’s no reason not to sign up to this Sunday Service as you’ll be getting lots of goodies and as ever it is completely FREE. We look forward to seeing you there.

eybic and the PH team.

I think that perhaps Haymarket have overestimated the value of Pistonheads as a brand - that's two BTaP's and a Pistonfest that they have had to cancel due to a colossal lack of interest. I know that LM camping usually sells out but I think it would do anyway as PH isn't the main focus - the race is.

Granted - the classifieds are also popular but that's about it really. They don't make any money from the forums (do they?), so what else is there?

Time for a serious rethink at PH Towers as to which direction it goes?

Get rid of ALL the over the top adverts would be a start. I've just about had enough in the Classifieds whilst scrolling having an advert follow me down the page. ..... Bloody annoying

And whatever happened to 'Speed Matters' Did someone complain about it?

Paid membership for the forums.

It keeps the idiots off and provides Haymarket with moeny. For the sake of say £10PA I don't see why its not been done already.

To be fair, there should be no need to pay for the forums. Many many fora are run quite successfully and profitably with such measures. There are other options...

I'm genuinely gutted for PH that it has come to this, I didn't want it to fail. However pretty much from the outset that appeared to be its destiny. Shame.

My tips for next year...
1) early planning
2) a committed 'line up' from the outset. None of this suck it and see approach.
3) reasonable costs that must also be perceived as reasonable too
4) proper, full on, timely staff/forum engagement

I get the impression that the visible staffers were utterly committed to this, however haymarket may have been more tentative resulting in what appears to have been a half baked concept. I hope that along with btap, lessons can be learnt for the future planning...
