I went to the last one ten years ago and that was boring.

So is this 2014 lineup:
1. Live music on stage from The Mighty Goodfellaz (unknown band)
2. Flying lap challenge with RMA Trackdays (computer simulator)
3. The PistonHeads Darts World Championship (watch a game of darts)
4. Hear everything about the BTCC from Ollie Jackson (listen to a talk)
5. The PH Pub Quiz (pub quiz with strangers in your team)
6. Best PH car, supported by AutoGlym (car show)

To be constructive, this is what PistonFest should be like:
1. Live music on stage from Jay Kay (or a known band with some connection to cars)
2. Flying lap challenge with real cars (could be a go-kart, could be an old Mk1 Fiesta, just make it real)
3. The PistonHeads Pit Girl Challenge sponsored by Dunlop (have a Miss England type competition to watch)
4. Interview with Murray Walker (listen to a talk from someone famous)
5. The PH Car Quiz (pub quiz just about cars)
6. Best PH car, supported by AutoGlym (car show - ok keep this as is)

You could say what I propose wouldn't ever happen... but if you book them, they will come!
The ticket price would also be somewhere in the £1000's of pounds each if it was expected to cover costs. You don't think Jay Kay & Murrary Walker would just show up because they like cars do you?
James, you're right, I doubt that JK or Murray would be within budget. However, you get the gist of what I am saying about the rest of the ideas.

Having said that, if you get a musician who wants to promote their new album they'll do stuff for free if the publicity is right. Murray Walker (or any other genuine legend), doesn't need to do it, but if someone at PH knows him - no doubt they do, they might be able to get him to do it as a favour. Richard Branson managed to get everything done for free when he started out, so if he can, so can PH!

Errrrrr..........No !
Was expecting something less pub rock ! Still the other
bands there might offer a different musical experience.
There aren't any other bands apart from the loom bands all the middle aged men will be wearing that their kids made.
Hang on ! It said 'Bands' on the booking agency site. Just checked and it is still quoting that. Are the PH staffers in attendance doing a comb and paper ensemble ?

All this negativety is getting on my nerves and frankly ruins the event.

95% of PHers are saying how much of a flop this is which then deters others from buying tickets. I reckon if everyone was more positive from the original announcement there'd be double the ammount of antendee's.

Whilst I do get where the negativety is coming from, I am bloody excited now - and the potential return for the low entry fee is well worth it!

I just hope its sunny - my paintwork looks lovely in the sun and I could have a chance at winning that AutoGlym comp. If its overcast my car won't look any good though!

Simple, convince Flemke to go or get somebody to pretend to be Flemke and you'll have a full field.

Dear me, it does sound as though they were struggling to put together an itinerary worth staying awake for. Darts? Wheel change challenge? Sounds dire.

Only 95%? With the gazillions of page hits per day that PH gets they've managed to excite 70 people enough about PistonFest to actually buy a ticket... But then again, £50 for two people and a car to camp in their own tent for one night actually makes PistonFest the most expensive campsite in the UK, if not Europe?! Especially when you consider that all the 'events' are sponsored, i.e. the costs are covered! If it was free then this would be an 'ok' way to spend a weekend that would only cost petrol money, but for £50? And just to point out, I'm not some tight arse! Don't think twice about dropping several hundred on a weekend away and we do regularly, however Pistonfest does not even register on the value for money scale imho.

The ticket price boggles the mind frankly. Should just set it to a fiver per car tops for turning up on the day, and sod the camping idea.

They should just make the event free and charge an extra 50p a pint, I know someone who will come who will drink enough to pay for all the Haymarket salaries for the year.

It is with great regret that due to low ticket sales we have made the difficult decision to cancel PistonFest 2014. Events like PistonFest are intended to be fun and appealing to our community, but also prove a challenge in getting the right level of content vs. the cost of tickets. Clearly we got it wrong with PistonFest. But hey, nobody is perfect smile We’ve got plenty of other ideas for events that we’ll continue to work on in the background and we’re looking forward to getting some feedback from the community in due course and bringing lots of exciting events to life in the future.

The good news is that Sunday Services continue to be a smash hit, and the one that was scheduled to happen the day after PistonFest is still going ahead and already has over 600 cars signed up. Furthermore, most of the activities, guests and goodies that were arranged for PistonFest have been transferred over to the Sunday so it’s set to be a fantastic day. There are still some places so to add your name to the list, click here.

So, this mega-sunday-service will benefit from:
  • Catering to provide you with some much needed Sunday morning food (bacon) and a van supplying some lovely refreshments including gourmet coffee.
  • Dunlop are still offering goodies, including the chance to win a set of tyres for your car
  • Caterham will still be holding their wheel change challenge with some great prizes for the fastest time.
  • Autoglym will also be there with some goodie bags, valeting demos and also offering a fantastic prize to the winner of the show and shine to go to their lab and have your car cleaned to a professional standard, they’ll even show you how to do it so you’ll have no excuse for not having an immaculate car in the middle of winter.
There’s no reason not to sign up to this Sunday Service as you’ll be getting lots of goodies and as ever it is completely FREE. We look forward to seeing you there.
