Quick question. How come on Pistonfest.com it says £30 per head, but in the shop they're £35 per head?

Yes i would like an answer to this having only just noticed and got two tickets last night.

At least you had 24 hours of blissful lack of awareness of the problem... I found out about 3 minutes after I hit "buy". Oh well... I'll be getting all my other motor sports for the year free as I'll be marshalling

A few more questions for you nice people that have been before....

1. I haven't been before, so I'm not going to know anyone. Is the etiquette similar to a marshals' campsite, ie wonder into any gathering, sit down and join in so long as you are bearing palatable alcoholic offerings?

2. I have just taken advantage of the fact that my wife is pissed at a girls night in to get her agreement to come along as well. When she wakes up sober, she may remember that she's not really in to cars (this is not by choice, but due to diabetic complications, her eyesight is such that she can no longer drive) so in the unlikely event that lots of booze and live music isn't enough to keep her happy, is there anything else for the non-petrolhead to do?

3. My immediate first thought was to call my parents to see if they can look after the kids (4 and a particularly robust 18 months). Then I noticed the small people making an appearance on Pikey's photos. What are people's thoughts on that? Is there enough to keep kids entertained if I can't offload them for the weekend? Tent isn't a problem, as I've got 2 bedrooms, a lounge and an atrium/dining room (yes, really ) so it's more about whether they'll be entertained and have similar aged kids around. Goodwood FoS was a great family day out, whereas truck racing at Thruxton, much as I loved it, wouldn't have provided much for the kids! laugh

I dont think there will be much for a 4 year old and an 18 month old.

BG junior went last year, there were kids there his age but he didnt mix much with them which was a shame, I think he preferred the adults antics.

He's wanting to go again this year though, he's now 12.

Any other kids around that age going?

My particular 18 monther would be perfectly happy finding a 2CV and then headbutting it until it falls apart! laugh It was more my 4 year old I had in mind! There were a couple of lads in Pikey's photos who looked not a million miles different in age, which is what got me wondering.

1. Fair point! I've only got about 8 V8s lined up for the day so far though, so I'll have to extend it out to other MGs methinks.

2. I believe you've actually just answered my question!

3. I know. I am just showing willing for when the wife sobers up and asks the question.

1. If anyone asks, say you knew Ted before he was famous. People will be in awe and buy you drinks

2. Yes, drink with other ladies b*tching about all the boys talking cars all the time. (It's a great women bonding theme).

3. Those little people were Simon's pit crew. Whilst he was out on a 2 hour night stint they came and had a boogie (woogie) with The Goodfellaz. He had no idea they were slacking! hehe

I'll be bringing my laddie along, if I remember rightly from last year, he had a couple of games of football, then retired to the tent to have a marathon session on the PSP with no mother to tell him off for the length of time he spends on it.

There are a lot of the 2cvers who have young kids. My 3 and 5 year old will be there boogying (and indeed woogying) the night away. Maybe we could have a 'Mini Games' with a smaller Pistonfest trophy for the kids? We do still need some volunteers for running the games pls.........

I'll help if I can. The only thing that might stop me is a torn ligament and something called a ganglion, both on my rigth wrist. Hopefully it will all have been operated on and fixed by then!

BTW, how heavy is a 2CV engine???

Ah! I take it the engine carry is a solo event then! Either that or it's an endurance event for a team of three

I'm quite good at organising sprogs... but I'm awful - beyond terrible, really, and right out the other side - at anything sporty.

BMWDN - I hope you got a good deal on your RV....invoice is in the post! :0)

Yes, engine carry is a solo event as is the 'How fast can you drink a pint' but all add up to a team score....so start sorting yourselves into teams of 4 for the Pistonfest cup.

There is also a prize for best RV on the site....I wonder who will win that one?????
