Just thought I would ask, seeing as folks are mooting their own meets.

A plain yes or no would be nice. No need to go round the houses with speculation of where & when and at what event.

I've pressed the management, will have to wait and see.

I am willing to sort something, although it would be nice to have the support of PH, and plenty of notice.

I'm one of the organisers of the Low 'n' Loud modified car show held at The Haynes Motor Museum, nr Yeovil - I'd be happy to reserve an area for a pistonheads display etc if everyone's up for it. We've also booked the small test track for public use. Its a really relaxed affair, Theres usually a good mix of cars from classic to chav but we keep tight rein on the latter.
The date for 2009 is Sunday 5th July - the website will be updated with all 2009 info soon www.lownloud.net.
Let me know if i need to save some space ?.

I looked at your site, but couldn't see any classics - just chav.

PF couldn't be further from that.

No offence Claerbus, but Matt's right, each to their own, but the drama that occured after one poor lad had a set of 6x9s in his 106 was quite remarkable. A whole field of them and CVM would have called in an aerial strike hehe

Thanks for the offer though, but this is more of a get drunk and move Vixpys' tent sort of event, not a show.

Hehe.... that was me and placed it next to the main entrance to the bar.... he walked past it about half a dozen times when coming into the bar and going back outside looking for the tent in question.

Had the scariest ride home with him.... hungover, in the pissing rain, him with his Chimp was not the way I wanted to go home....

Ah... they were the old dayz smile

That chav incident with his sports exhaust and revving it every 5 mins was funny as fk when vixpy used the chimp to show him what a real car sounded like....

A couple of us tried to organise something last year, after Ted confirmed there wouldn't be another one. After a lot of initial interest, it fell a bit flat hehe But those of us that went, had a great time biggrin

We had hoped to secure a venue for a summer event, but sadly in the end the final costs were just too high.

We'll be chatting with Petrolhead Nirvana over the next few weeks to see if we can come up with a plan, but as of right now it looks unlikely that PF will happen.

Has there been any member consultation on that?

After all, BTaP is way more expensive than PF was, yet there are still enough PHers willing to pay out to, I assume, make that at the very least break even?

I'm not suggesting people would be willing to pay the same for a camping weekend as they would for BTaP, but I can't imagine the costs are as high either? Surely it's difficult to know if the costs are too high without getting a feel for what we're prepared to pay?

An example

Silverstone Classic £79 for a 3 day pass
Campsite with facilities £35

Total £114 for an International Event.

Assume camping at a club circuit (Brands/Don/Snett etc) remains at £35.

A weekend race, say the British F3 and GT Championship would cost £20 for two days racing.

That's 55 notes. Throw in some haggling, £50 easily achievable.

Throw £20 on top for a £70 ticket price - not bad for a weekend camping and racing IMO.

Say 150 turn up (easily achievable)

150 x 20 = £3k to play with.

£2k on a marquee
£band? for one night?

You don't need to lay on a lot of entertainment, most will be happy to yarn in front of a BBQ, and as we're car nuts, wandering around the pits and talking cars is enough.

Just a thought

So, are we going to organise our own? last years DIY was a bit of a flop, but we could try again.

May I suggest that it is nothing more than a get together in a rally field at a half decent camp site.

Beer, BBQ and car talk, nothing more.

Just a thought...

2/3/4 October

Britcar 6 hour at Silverstone

3 day pass £30

Onsite camping

I've enquired about the camping cost, and to cofirm it's inside the circuit or directly adjacent to.

Could be cold though laugh

Could be amusing to turn up in a Sagaris and park next to a custom hot hatch that ended up costing the owner £50k and saying "and look what you *could* have had" in your best game show voice-over guy voice. smile

Mind you, the response would be "yeah, but where iz the ICE man? Mine's wikkid innit?" rolleyes

(All in jest BTW)

To be fair, I could take the Cerb and probably compete paperbag the previous owner put in a £2k+ installation, it's ridiculously loud, although I suspect they'd look at me oddly when I crank up ZZ Top above their drum and bass sessions hehe
