For some reason this is the first time I've seen this subforum.. But it seems to have quite a bit of activity.

What the hell is PistonFest?

It was a camping weekend at a racing venue which was a load more fun than BTaP, and also a whole load cheaper. Sadly it didn't make any profit for PH Central, so it got dropped from the agenda.

I loved the Shakespeare County Racing venue! Great couple of years! Snetterton was good too, but not a patch on the drag racing!

pistonfest was great, as it was over a few days it was more relaxed too and you met everyone.

How many BTaPs have you been to where you got to hide Vixpy's tent at the other end of a field and watch him have a paddy?

It doesn't need everyone to go, but surely there would be enough people interested to generate a reasonable showing?

TBH there SHOULD be room for both but as Warben said there may be not enough profit in a pistonfest. Pity really as the first 3 where so much fun. We all need somewhere where we can take the P out o the saxo squad and create a new classic like 'Porscha Boxtaaa', 'Blue LED Maxody' and 'Isn't it moronic'. Class !

The lack of a PF event is not about lack of profit as BTaP is run at cost level (genuinely).

The main reason for not continuing with PF is the apparent lack of interest, yes we have 30 or so folk who are keen to attend but it was on a slow decline towards the end of it's life and the decision was made to not renew in 2008. I guess it has been off-radar since then, with the effort being put into arranging the monthly Sunday Service meets instead.

I am talking with two of our partners to explore the possibilities of a PF style event in 2011, but it is just a discussion at this stage, although there are some good possibilities being raised.

and with the nature of BTaP, neither of those bills are going to be small...

Garlic, totally understand the position of lack of attendees, it's just a shame that there isn't a more "grass roots" type of event...

We just might return in 2011, and are looking at ways to keep the ticket price low (sub £30)

As a suggestion, might it be better to look at something central such as the Silverstone Classic weekend, rather than heading off to the tundra?

Getting to do 360 degree spins on track and absolutely not at all really not even think about doing 1080 spins in neighbouring fields to the delight of American security guards was great fun, but hammering tent pegs into permafrost was a right pain in the arse!

I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not too sure on the camping inside the circuit at Silverstone though, may have to be one of the other tracks with a decent event on.
