Will this take-off like Google Wave did?

I subscribed, very interested to see how this pans out. If anyone can challenge facebook on this, imho it's Google.

Despite that, I signed up to "show my interest" in the project. Not sure why, as I can't even be bothered with Facebook these days.

Only google employees get invites at the moment, so my friend invited me. But apparently I'll get some invites soon, so i'll hit everyone up.

I have actually used it a few times, only because it's so easy to do while you're using gmail from the bar at the top that it keeps happening, which I think was their idea. But it is very facebook, just with circles.

That looks good, facebook's friend/not is a bit binary.

Looking forward to this.

The circles idea has me hooked. Its really hard in facebook to have a clear distinction between different social groups, and this seems to tap right into that gap.

Hopefully it will be 'cleaner' too without all the ste that facebook brings with it. Going back to uni next year and this sounds like the perfect thing to have on campus, away from all the farmville ste and updates from your grandma and girlfriend's friends which really start to grate.

Overall I think facebook has become a bit too much like a bulletin board, rather than a truly social network bringing together people in differing social groups which hopefully this will sort out.

It looks awesome, I am watching a online show about it and they have 10 people in what they call a "hangout" where you can video chat. It looks great!

If anyone does get an invite please let me have one, I will of course give the PH collective invites as soon as I get my hands on this.

Facebook's down fall is the chav masses who now spend all day doing a full days work on farmville (quite ironic as most are on the dole) and filling up eveyones news feed with crap.

This seems more mature, more grown up that Facebook. I can honestly say I hardly ever post on facebook nor do any of my friends. No one is putting up photos anymore or really conversing. I think its drifting. And when it comes up in conversation, theres always a few groans. In my opinion, its been ruined by braggers. People just post 'look where I am' 'look what I bought' stuff now. Probably because theres not much else to it. I think Google have seen the weaknesses in facebook. Can they solve them and make social networking more mature, more natural, more relevant?

Could be wrong but I can't see this replacing facebook, for me, facebook is too established now, I very much doubt that anyone could really be arsed to go through the hassle of signing up, setting up another profile, and then hoping all their mates do the same (which they probably won't).

I am a big google fan, but I really can't see this taking over from facebook.

As for some of the complaints about people of facebook talking crap, what's to stop those same folks doing exactly the same anywhere else?

A screenshot of group video chat (aka a Hangout)... fking cool....

This could be really useful for business, I think it could piss on Skypes parade, especially as Skype really has gone downhill with the most recent versions.
