What model Macbook, is it an Intel one?
Something like this:Looks like a core 2 white machine
Should be able to determine which version of OSX and iTunes it can run then.

Cool, if you click the apple symbol on the top left of the screen there will be the 'About this Mac' option, click that and post a pic of the output.

Thanks for all the help so far guys. Here is the info requestedLooks like a core 2 white machine

My iTunes is 10.6.3, and when I plug in the iPad it says it says 'not charging' in the top corner. If I click update iTunes it says it is up to date.
If I use a 3rd party program to get music from computer to iPad will it ruin my warranty?
The minimum OS requirements for the latest iTunes is 10.7, your computer will support that happily.
It's a free upgrade so worth doing (10.5 is long out of support now so any security issues it'll have won't be fixed by Apple).
However given that you've only 1GB of RAM your machine is likely to be spectacularly slow, I would be tempted to add some more, it's inexpensive and easy to fit.
But using 3rd party software on your iPad won't invalidate the warranty.

Thanks for the reply. On the download site for iTunes it says that minimum OS X requirement is version 10.7.5 (and when I try installing it), but my OS X is 10.5.8.... not sure why it would support it happily? Certainly won't install! It's a free upgrade so worth doing (10.5 is long out of support now so any security issues it'll have won't be fixed by Apple).

Anybody know how much it costs for the installation of a new battery in a 2010 MBP 13in?
Just done it. £50. It's easy to do yourself. I found this one company who sell you the battery and the two screwdrivers necessary, makes life a lot easier.Example: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Battery-Version-661-5557-6...

I'm not rightly sure. It was for the wife's laptop, and it only went in a week or so ago. It will certainly be better, but I will ask and let you know in a day or so. I thought she'd dropped the machine, as the mousepad was out of kilter, but when I took it to pieces, the battery was swelling badly!

Take care to match the 'A' model number before you order.

But regardless you'll struggle to install the newer OS with only 1GB of memory.

As mentioned above, my MBPro occasionally does this when you reopen it from sleep mode. You can log in and it's fine.
apparently video is a known problem for 2011 model year and we can expect it to get worse with age.http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/mac/widespread-2011...
A bunch of arse I thought as a new logic board is £300. I tried various methods to get it back but it's dead.
Anyway, long story short, I called Apple to order a new board, they explained that there is a known issue with the cooling on that board and therefore have extended the warranty to 6 years for that fault, so I just need to bring the laptop in and they'll replace FoC. I'm assuming that means the board not the whole unit but will see. So maybe worth getting that laptop checked.
The warranty is only valid if you bought it new/refurbished from Apple.

Yeah you'll need to update OSX to at least 10.7 before installing the current iTunes.
But regardless you'll struggle to install the newer OS with only 1GB of memory.
Ok thanks for the help guys. I can't find it anywhere for free (£15 on the apple store) so will probably have to wait until Feb now. Nevermind! But regardless you'll struggle to install the newer OS with only 1GB of memory.
