If that doesn't work, your best bet is to box it up and send it to me. It's obviously broken and I will fix it.

Boot camp doesn't show in the start up drive, that's the problem. Holding down ALT when booting takes me straight the screen with 2x Macintosh HDs. I've now also chosen the left one and that boots me into Mac as well, so no idea where Boot Camp has gone. It's showing in the disk utility but there appears to be nothing on it. http://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT1310

Ok, so whilst bootcamp allows you to run windows 'more natively' (if that makes sense), you could try VMing it. I prefer it personally,as you can swap between them on the fly.
As the mac is new, just reinstall osx to get back to 1 partition (disregarding the osx install one), so you're back where you are after unpacking it. Can either buy vm software, fusion or parallels, both fairly cheap,or try virtual box which is free. Then install Windows in a VM.

Well I got it all working via Fusion in the end and I was amazed to see Windows 7 looking absolutely fantastic in nearly 4k res. However, while the problem program does function okay it's still not able to receive audio directly even when using SoundFlower virtual audio. There doesn't seem to be any way of looping the audio like you can do with stereo mix on Windows machines so I'm guessing it's hardwired into the board and can't be changed (bit like the Conexant "crippleware" cards in Lenovos). This is very sad news as I can't justify keeping a £2400 machine when one of my most used programs sadly doesn't work so as I'm now at the end of the 14-day return period I've very reluctantly decided to return it . Really don't want to do this but needs must.
I'm planning on putting W 8.1 on my original PC and buying a 4k monitor in an attempt to emulate the screen and font quality from the riMac. Apparently 8.1 saw some big changes for handling UHD monitors in different resolutions similar to what the 5k retina screen does on the iMac.

No.. The problem is with the Mac hardware, not the software. You can't loop the audio on Mac as it's disabled on the board according to the Mac techie I spoke to today. Something to do with compliance with the RIAA music anti-piracy act in the US.
The way the decoders work is based on receiving the input directly. Using SoundFlower/Audio Hijack etc, you can have any of the following, but not a combination :
1. Decoder program receives the audio directly and does decoding duties, but the speakers are disabled so you can't hear anything.
2. Speakers work and you can hear the tones but the decoder doesn't do anything.
3. Speakers work and decoder partially works, but that's because the built-in mic is picking up what's coming out of the speakers.
It's just how it is sadly.
As a side note I had an excellent experience dealing with their tech support and later on the returns department. Really nice people, nothing too much trouble and the tech guy spent nearly an hour with me trying different things to see if we could figure it out as I really wanted to keep it. One of the best experiences I've had with a company in a very long time. I will be a Mac customer again at some point but for now, given my experiences with Windows on a UHD screen, I will be trialling a UHD screen myself and running Win 8.1 on it and see how that pans out.

Glad that you had a good experience with the tech/return/customer service side of Apple - always good to know.
Out of interest though, given that there appear to be a number of Mac decoder applications/ham radio users, can you tell us what is different or unusual about your setup? Are you taking things step further from a standard setup, or is there a "pro" level of user that needs the requirements you have found lacking?
I'm simply interested as it's an area I know nothing about.

Yes it is a "pro" mode function which is very specialist and isn't found in other decoder programs.Out of interest though, given that there appear to be a number of Mac decoder applications/ham radio users, can you tell us what is different or unusual about your setup? Does anybody have a possible diagnoses for my WI-FI problem. I have a BT wireless hub and all other devices such as iPhones and iPads connect to it apart from my mac until a week ago. My mac will connect to other wireless connections fine, just won't connect to my home wireless but will work using a wired connection?
Any ideas?
Thanks

Have you rebooted the hub?Any ideas?
Thanks

I reset the hub and stuff like that, i think it down to having so many devices connected (around 8). I can only my laptop when its the only thing connected to the wifi.
I have around 20 devices connected at home... shouldn't be an issue. Is there an IP conflict?
Is there a setting on the router preventing 'new' devices connecting to the router?

Two useful key combos: CMD-TAB (same as alt-tab windows, switch between active applications) and CMD-Q - quit app. If you find yourself wanting to connect to remote servers/fileshares, CMD-K opens connection window.
If you get lost in finder, open terminal (in apps/utils) and type:
$ defaults write com.apple.finder _FXShowPosixPathInTitle -bool YES
$ killAll Finder
This will display the full path in the finder title window; helped me loads when I first switched over to find out where stuff was. YMMV.
That terminal thing didn't work for me. I'm new to my Imac..If you get lost in finder, open terminal (in apps/utils) and type:
