Do you guys use 2 factor authentication with google? There's a special method to sort that out if you do.
ah - that may be it - i recently got a second work mac & it kept freaking me out with "you ID is in use on another computer" type messaging so I set something up

is there a way to check, and what is the 'special method' you speak of? wink

Cheers

How do you tell: When you sign into google, it should ask you for a pin that it sends to your phone, or a 6 digit number from your google authenticator.

There is a specific method to do with email, but your issue is with internet accounts, I think?

See if this thread helps.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6984508

This is google's help page to sort out 2fa with mac mail: https://support.google.com/accounts/troubleshooter...

(Although it may contain some clues as to sort your issue)

I was looking last night at compatible mono-laser printers for OSX 10.10 Yosemite and it seems not many support yosemite? I can buy virtually any printer for 10.9 Mavericks, but not for 10.10! Am i missing something?

btw - currently using 10.9 but looking to buy a new Imac which comes with Yosemite.

My old Samsung just kept working, not much help I know but are printers makers not updating info when they should?

Might be useful

My printer, I browse into the settings but can use Samsung software to start the journey.

I think you'll find Mavericks (10.9) printers will work fine with Yosemite (10.10).

We use Canon MF4500's in two locations and they work perfectly with 10.10.

The OS X Printing system is based on CUPS - AFAIK any printer which is supported by CUPS without needing manufacturer's drivers will work.

On Mac Mini how does one get audio out over HDMI? Under sound there is only an option to output to the internal speaker

Three questions from me, if someone could help answer please. Got the Mac in December after being a Windows person forever

I have FireFox downloaded to my Mac, it keeps asking to do a security update which I allow, close FireFox and re-open but then it prompts to install the update again, how can I install it properly please?
Again FireFox, after downloading it I have the icon on my desktop, not the icon to launch the app but the one to download it. If I click eject it also removes FireFox, is there a way I can remove it or hide it please?
Final question, when I send an e-mail from the Mac using the Apple Mail, I can see multiple items in the sent box, why is this please?

The icon on your desktop is probably the mounted drive symbol. You're running firefox from a mounted download, so you are not installing updates as it is probably mounted read only, hence why it asks you each time.

You need to drag the firefox application to your app folder.

The multiple copies of emails may be backup versions saved while you are writing, I can have 15-20 saved versions of sent emails, usually each one has a couple of extra words on it.

For multiple of the same Sent messages, check the Mailbox Behaviours tab in Preferences, under Accounts. Unchcek the "Store sent messages on the server" option.
If it is unchecked already, then something else is generating the copies, and might need to look at your settings in Gmail itself.
I've a number of default options disabled, so that they don't show in Mail – more to do with stupid folders I never use.

If the screen you've plugged the HDMI into supports Audio then it will appear as an audio device.

Is your name Neil?

Do you own an iMac?

Are you using your (Neil's) iCloud account on the iPad?
