Can you buy her additional iCloud space and then do the back up to the cloud from the device?

Any ideas on iPhone/backup issue?

I wanted to back my daughters iPhone up before heading to Genius bar on Monday - just in case they decide to wipe it. (Problem with airpods so unlikely but...)

I plugged it into my PC with iTunes but when you go to the device it only offers the option to set it up as a new device or to restore from backup. Huh?

It's was logged in to her icloud account and the phone is all set up & works fine.

How do I back the flipping thing up then? Why am I getting only those options and not the usual summary page with the backup option?

It says it backed up wirelessly a year ago but that icloud is now out of space (she has icloud photos turned on) so it won't do that - but I've had similar with mine and could do a wired backup no problem.

I never seem to be able to get my head around itunes! She's deleted a load of photos but now there's even less space available in iCloud... banghead
Settings -> her name -> iCloud -> Manage your plan

Buy an upgrade. 99p a month for an extra 50GB, backup phone, go to Genius bar. Then sort out the storage later, you can cancel the extra storage at any time

Can't help with iTunes, not used it for years as it's long gone from Macs and I don't have a PC.

Having keyboard problems with my aged iMac. Original wired Apple keyboard failed some years ago, and its replacement, an Apple Magic wireless keyboard, started misbehaving yesterday, and I’m not inclined to buy another.

Not used for anything special, just general home office duties.

Anyone able to recommend an iMac compatible wireless keyboard of good quality? Would be nice if it was white and stylish (Shallow? Moi?) and would prefer a separate numeric keypad

Would be happy to ditch the Magic Mouse, too, so maybe a keyboard/mouse set?

Thanks all.

Logitech are good, although these days I prefer a mechanical keyboard, so am using a low profile Keychron.

I've got the Logitech MX mechanical Mini for Mac and it's far nicer than the OEM Apple keyboard, nice amount of travel and not super clicky, the ability to change on the fly between 3 different devices is a game changer (using it for my Mac, Windows PC and Stream Deck).

Sadly on Amazon it looks like it's £90 currently for Windows (which includes a dongle) but £150 for Mac which doesn't have dongle

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07W6JM8BR?psc=1

Not sure if the keys map OK on the windows version if used on a mac.

Logitech MX keyboard and mouse, I have the low profile keyboard with number pad, and 3S mouse. You can get white versions but mine are the regular grey and black. They do a mechanical version too if you prefer that to low profile ‘chiclet’ keys. This is the white keyboard and mouse combo on Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-Keys-Master-Perf.... Keep an eye out on Amazon warehouse used prices for them with a damaged or opened box, they’ll be a bit cheaper like that. There are simpler mice if the 3S is a bit full on biggrin .

I was reluctant to buy the mouse, but after almost 2 years of using it, I think it is brilliant.

I bought a Dell mouse and keypad (so I could flip between different laptops plugged into the same screen). Model: Dell Premier Wireless Keyboard and Mouse KM717 - UK.

Oddly, the mouse was nowhere near as smooth with my MacBook Pro as the Magic Mouse. The Windows keyboard was a bit annoying (having to remember which keys were which). I ended up going back to Apple.

Why is it that every single time I plug my iPhone into my MacBook for charging it asks me whether I want to Trust This Computer ? You'd think two Apple products would remember a relationship you stated last time, especially when they're both using the same Apple ID.

Mine also does that. I'm not sure why, maybe it is done at a lower level before it is able to know about the AppleID on the host. But with things like that, I'd rather err on the side of caution.

If you’re only charging the phone can you just ignore the question and charging will still go ahead?

I think Apple implemented the prompt after security exploits with dark cables like the OM.G which are nearly impossible to defend against.

One of the speakers on my M1 MacBook Pro is distorting - fortunately it's under warranty.

Apparently the speakers are permanently attached to the top plate which means a brand new plate that includes the keyboard, trackpad and the aluminium shell. About £600 in total just to replace the little speaker. And about a week to repair it.

Odd one on the daughters 14 pro.

Having updated to 17.0.3, she now has an urgent camera message saying the camera has either not been installed correctly or is not of approved design (or words to that effect).

Anyone seen this before? Have rebooted with no change, but the camera still seems fully functional.

Has the phone had a new screen or camera assembly?

No nothing like that.

Lens protector has been removed. The only thing is a screen protector that did cause a slight error with Face ID when I stuck it on, but after a couple cycles Face ID worked fine, and has been flawless since.

Phone is 4 months old.

Well,

After a month of two of colleagues saying "Pushedover, what the hell with the balloons" during teams meetings - and swearing blind I am not buggering around with any Teams filters or settings - Lord knows what clients think too actually - I have discovered, Apple for their own amusment have integrated hand gestures in the camera settings, that not only apply to Facetime, but Teams too !

Anyone else aware / unaware?

Obviously - since discovering it does allow a little flair when presenting
