OK.
Things have gotten slightly out of hand with a bit too much low level trolling and fanboyism in here of late.
So, this is what I suggest:
If you have a general quick question about a Mac/PC issue. Then ask it in the sticky thread relating to that platform.
I am sure that this will be fine for 8/10 issues people ask on here.
If you've got a specific/very complex question then by all means start a topic anyway.
I will be hovering around here more over the next few weeks/months to keep an eye on things.
ANY Trolling or baiting in the question threads will result in swift action from myself or other mods.
I count myself as a massive Geek. And I'm not a fan of ethire platform. I grew up on OS7 on a Apple LCII and onwards till X came out.
These days I'm a PC guy, by budget mostly.
If you've got a question or a suggestion. Let me know.
We're all nerds here. So let's try and get along

I had an Acorn Electron...
I've been doing computing since the days of paper tape and punched cards. Some of my earliest computing memories are using kit like this
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletype_Model_33
to get access to a new wierd operating system called Unix.
Mmm started with a zx81 ram pack wobble anyone?
Then a spectrum followed by a ql
These days i run both win and apple ( just waiting for my new mac mini)
Ive taken to drunkenly collecting old kit on ebay
So far
48k spectrum
Spectrum +128
+2
+3
Icl opd ( ql in disguise)
Got an eye out for a russian spectrum and a apple iie
Cut code on an pdp8, triton, nascom 3 and rml380z.
Our school had a teletype but i never saw it working...
I once setup the west midlands sinclair users group ! Which ran for about 10 years in the 80's

First ever hands-on was at university, a Commodore Pet with the calculator keyboard and built-in cassette tape drive, c.1978.
Later a DECSYSTEM-20, although we only ever saw the dumb terminals - only the anointed were permitted entry to the interesting bits.
Programming in assembler on an AIM-65 to operate a traffic light simulator.
Apple IIe with 5.25" floppy drive - luxury! Controlling a DMM over a GPIB bus, cutting edge stuff (or so it seemed) in 1983.
First job I had, they had a Cromemco something-or-other with 8" floppies. Can't actually remember what it was used for! I think someone had a version of Colossal Cave for it. We were at a Christmas night out in the local hotel and a waiter came in who was somewhat vertically challenged. Out rang a somewhat drunken cry of "Throw axe!"
First owned computer was an Atari 1040STE with wobbly power lead that fell out at the slightest provocation. PSU failed after a while and I skipped it some years later.
