Forgive my ignorance but is that one of the lights that goes on the back of a train?
It's a railway handlamp but can be used as a headlamp/tail lamp in an emergency.

Anyone in the market for a new charger? Very happy with this little unit. Does li-ion and Ni-MH and has a great little display showing voltage and Amp. Can do two 18650 at 1A. Also had success in bring back to life one of my over discharged cells...

Yep excellent device, in the winter ours sits on the utility window sill by the back door, powered by one of those 4 outlet usb chargers from IKEA.

One thing I've found useful is that it tells you just how much power it's put back into the batteries. So for example I know now that if my Thrunite headlamp shows smallish increase in output from medium setting to high, then the battery is about 85% discharged.

Have one, great charger and really handy. And planning on taking with me on a 2 week camping trip for the convenience of being able to charge from USB - gives me the option to charge from mains, car or from a li-ion battery pack if it comes to it.

Guys, need some advice please.

I bought one of the cheapy Cree XML torches for home and its fine.

However, I have since changed jobs and need a reliable, small, bright equivalent to this, that has the following features :

Takes a 18650.

Has no more than 2 modes ideally.

Is ideally no more than 8 inches long.

Also, would appreciate recommendations for a USB 18650 charger.

TIA.

In that case just stick to the Chinese ones I have loads of them stashed about.

Fenix and Olight are my favourite bands but too expensive to be left around

Most modern lights will have more than 2 modes. This is because the output can be very high, and to make it more usable you need appropriate output modes.

Think of it like gears in a car. If you only needed to travel as 30mph you would probably only need 2 gears. But having cars capable of 120mph+ and still the ability to run at 30mph, means you really need more gears.

The Convoy S range of lights are very good for the money. Find them at Banggood.com

Astrolux S1?

A clone of the BLF A6 SE. Extremely bright, pretty cheap. Loads of modes but you can use 'mode memory' so it will turn on straight to the last mode you used.

I'd have a look at the Convoy S2 myself; no real need for one with a pair of BLF A6's round the house but the S2 does seem to be very popular.

Any head torch recommendations? Probably will be used at work, so I don't tend to loose things, but not too expensive.

I've bought one of these - cheap enough to lose and the battery is at the back so I'm hoping it's more comfortable than the type linked to above this post.

I bought these to wear when working under the car -

I can't review them as they haven't arrived but based on previous experience they will be great and survive for around a year of abuse before being lost / run over.

Several cheap Chinese head torches they all work well enough.

I've also bought one of these not tried it yet though. Might be worth a try

What is your budget?

My stock answer is the Led Lenser X7R, but you can pay up to £100 for one.

Budget needed. I'm a Nitecore fanboy but for cheap and cheerful there is some decent Thrunite and Thorfire stuff available on Amazon.

So, thought I had every torch angle covered until planning for a camping trip I realised my need...

... a lantern!!

Yay excuse to buy more torch geekery!

Fenix CL25R - This is a lovely little unit, runs on my preferred 18650s and has a moonlight mode.

It's tiny but will easily light a room or tent to well beyond required levels, will probably only use bottom two settings in the main.
