Excellent, does it have an intruder worthy, erm, heft?
yes

It's definitely going into service as my new 'night time popping to the loo torch, Officer'.
Great stuff.

Ohh what a thread. Love torches and even been guilty of having joined a torch forum. Wife says I am a sad sad man. I got decent torches from when I was in the Army. All Gerber as that was the main brand sold on base. Some nice little tatical ones. Had them over 6 years now and still going strong.

And in case you were in any doubt as to its intended purpose... hehe

Nice, but for inflicting torch-based injury you would have to go a long way to beat the old Maglite 6 x D cell... I still have one somewhere in my cupboard. Absolute crap as a torch compared to any of the modern LED offerings, but I REALLY wouldn't like to be hit with it! Would probably be like being belted with a crowbar.

I've had a 4 x D-cell Maglite by my bed for the last ten years. This feels pretty much identical in the hand... and has a 'spikey' end for maximum brutality hehe

Put a lanyard on it and learn how to handle yourself.

I doubt your wife will enjoy watching you get your head caved in when you start waving that about at some skagged up intruder.

Just picked on up from the local aldi, still hate that place though, it makes my skin crawl just walking around there!

Just got it for toms camping weekend starting tonight!

It's a nice sturdy thing!

Yup, just got back from Aldi with one of these too smile

Pissed off though, they had the merino wool stuff in and no base layer tops in my size. Such a bargain! Got a hat, some leggings and a mid layer though.

Yeah, I got a couple of cycling bits too.

I always make sure I'm at Aldi on the day offers come out if I really want something. Work can go hang... Aldi's important! biggrin

I've not seen it. But suspect its cool white tint, moderate throw and likely PWM on the lower mode. Probably not a bad buy off the shelf in the UK. But you can do better if you want too.

For example, this is slightly cheaper, much brighter, will throw further. Has a choice of tints, a programmable driver and just better quality overall. It's also coat pocket friendly, but has enough heft to it should you need it in that manner.

Random timing - I've just decided to get that light having been eyeing up C8's for awhile. Hoping the XPL-HI will be the way ahead. And finally got around to ordering an S2+ as a round the house light to see what the fuss is about.

No, but you could just hit him over the head with it.

My wife.... tolerates.... my torch habit.

She was a bit more tolerant when our power went out the other night wink

(Even the engineers were confused with the brightness of the house given we had no electric in the wires!)

My strategy would be blind them, then hit them over the head

Buy one and shine it at the wife, see how good it is, hitting her over the head is entirely optional.

Maybe someone who has already bought one can comment how good it is, it's a little big for my liking, I prefer something pocket sized (X7R)
