Why not stick them in a torch, leave torch switched on until flat and then start again.
Just need to buy a torch then smile

Oh dear. F5 reveals they are now in stock.

I really want one, but know that it would undeniably be a bit of a silly purchase.

£315 is a lot of money for something I probably wouldn't use.

And there's bound to be one with 2300 lumens when I get a hose in the countryside.

Heart says get it. Head says don't be silly. Head wins. Just.

Heart is a quite disappointed.

Get lost. I've just ordered an Olight SR51 instead, with batteries, charger and battery case, delivered for £119.

I'll still get in trouble, mind.

Good choice, probably more practical than the SR90 i.e. still a very powerful torch and you can put it in your coat pocket when walking the dog instead of carrying it around in a shopping trolley.

She doesn't know about the Lego VW Campervan I bought either. This will be a good month for toys, and a bad month for sleeping in the spare room.

Oh well. It think the rule is:

Men don't grow up. As they get older, their toys get more expensive. Whoever dies with the most toys, wins.

I've got a Lumapower MVP I bought a couple of years ago - 700 lumens - which seems bloody bright to me. I almost can't imagine how bright some of the stuff being talked about on this thread is.... but like some of you fellow torch-a-holics, I'm off to work out which one to ask Santa for ;-)

I've been trying to work out where to put the new shelf to keep it when I've made it up... Shame I don't have a man cave. I'll also try to take one torch pics when it comes in 5-20 working days. frown

Woooah! I just ordered one of these
http://www.mte-led.com/show_imgnews.asp?id=461&amp...
together with a double battery charger + batteries for it, all for £91.
Got this today.

God, is it tiny. And bright. Way, way, way bright.

Compared it to my old "brightest torch" (Tesco 3W LED 2 x D cell) and it made the Tesco one look like a candle.

Charged up the batteries and on full output got a runtime of about 1h 15m which is great for the size of it.

Gets rather warm though!!

One bad thing is one of the rechargeable batteries is dead. Doesn't accept any charge, and in the torch all it does is give a very brief flash and that's it. Turn torch off and on again, another flash and nothing more, etc.

Bought it for a holiday on Friday so I've sent an email to the seller begging for a replacement to be sent first class so I'll get it on Thursday.

What is the highest capacity 18650 cell you can buy nowadays?

That would be these:

16 quid each though.

Some Chinese sites claim higher capacity but AWs are the best you can get

You think that's tiny?

You should check out the Torch Light C78 with a 14500 battery

Ah, so the 3600mAh ones I got will not be as good? Ah well, when I get those laptop batteries taken apart, I'll have some spares!

Got one of these last week http://www.maplin.co.uk/multi-function-mini-torch-... and it is mighty for its' tiny size. And whilst I am a big fan of internet shopping I can recommend Maplin for a good range of torches that you can actually try before you buy.

Oli.
I like it.

The Cree XR-E LED is an older LED but it's a good one, it has a naturally throwy beam.
