LED Lenser copy. I'd give it a miss, but I'd give most things runnning on 3*AAA a miss. 2*AA gives more power, more runtime and they are easier to charge in pairs.

I never did buy a charger. frown

But got some torches instead. biggrin

First one is a free led thing, that's going in the garage.
Lenser L6, I like this feels well built.
Mini mag pro, yep that's bright.

My old ones, had them all years.
Mini mag silver has the 3 led upgrade, over time its not as bright anymore.
Black one is the same.
The other black is normal bulb, still works kind of, but the others blow it into the water.

Then you'd be missing out on a superb little torch. They're the light of choice for a lot of sar / mr teams.

Fair enough, but I'll still stick to my 2*AA torches which are generally brighter than a 3*AAA and last longer.

15 pages on torches hehe
Can someone give me a recommendation, I'm looking for something small - ideally one or two AA batteries.
It will replace my stolen LED lenser as a travel torch - compact and light are the primes aims and it shouldn't be overly bright as to blind people! Ideally cheap, assuming it will be stolen/lost along the way.

I have 3 of those and regularly give them away to people amazed at how bright, light and generally groovy they are.

I have just bought my first proper torch, a Fenix PD35, and I have a question regarding the battery. I bought a pair of Nitecore Li-ion 18650 3.7 volt cells and a Nitecore i2 charger to use with it. Now having looked through the PD35 manual it lists a 3.2v HiFePO 18650 as "Usable", while the 3.7v Li-ion 18650 is listed as "Cautious". Does this mean i've bought the wrong batteries or is it just to cover themselves over the possible explosive properties of the Li-ion cells?

hmmm are the 3.7v cells unprotected by any chance?

Fenix PD35 is such an excellent torch so thought I'd congratulate you on a great purchase. Love the build quality and compact nature of these EDCs.

Looking at the YouTube comparison against the Fenix I'd say it's not that good??

And, a bit like a 911 - actually quite practical, day-to-day. This would be the Nitecore TM26, and it's my main everyday use (not carry!) torch - from 3 Lumens, to be able to check up on the babies with - to 3800 Lumens* to check up on the burglars.

  • It originally came out as a 3500Lumen version, but now mostly you should only find the upgraded version, which also has a less-blue LED display (some call it 'white').
My other two in-use ones are the Olight SR95, and SR96 - the latter putting out 4800Lumens in a package not much different to one's idea of a large, handheld torch.

Fenix, Nitecore, Klarus and Olight all in my experience execute fabulous torches - factors being things like glass lenses and current-controlled circuitry (so, constant brightness).

Nitecore's MH Series are fantastic in that they are USB-chargeable - as are their excellent P25's.
