Myself and a mate are involved in something of a torch arms race, the barsteward has just gone and bought a Lenser X21R, which would have been my next purchase. Any advice on what to buy now to outshine how, so to speak.
How about beating him at his own game and getting a X21R.2? biggrin

I think a Fenix TK75 2015 will out shine it and possibly outlast it if you add an extender to it, an an Olight SR95 in almost any of it's variations will out thow it I think. The full on, billy big balls, SR95S-UT claims to have a 1000m throw. The Nitecore TM36 is also an outrageous thrower, or so I read.

I don't have the money to actually own any of those, but as far as I know they are all pretty much handheld suns. I'm sure a few on here have one or all of them and they can say whether they actually live up to the companies claims.

Plus the olight is called the intimidator. You'll win on that alone.

I like the sound of the intimidator alright, though I am leaning towards the X21R.2 at the minute, mainly because I have a few Lensers and they have been great torches. Maybe I could get an intimidator sticker for the X21.

Anyone have either of the above?

Not much of a battle is it getting .1 better

You should rain down an un-Godly fking firestorm upon him! He's gonna have to call the United Nations and get a binding resolution to keep you from fking destroying him. I'm talking scorched earth, motherfker! You will massacre him ! You WILL fk Him UP!

Go big or go home

All the more reason to try something different, no?
I used to be a Lenser fan then tried a Nitecore light. Then another one. Then another one. Then another one. I have 6 Nitecore lights now (albeit only 4 different types.)

I then considered a Nitecore for a new torch but went with a Manker instead. Granted, partly for the spec - but also because I don't own a Manker and have heard good things about them.

Variety is the spice of life.

I actually know where there's several of them stored although they are WW2 vintage so not sure they will work that well now

Nice share, thanks. Been after a decent torch for a while and keep coming back to this thread, the reviews on the Lenser are great so got it bought
Amazon just delivered my torch. Had a little play, I'm a fan! I may turn into a torch geek. The manual uses words like "tactical", "strobe", "defence" and it has a "professional" mode smile

This thing is insanely bright for it's size. Only £5 too.

No throw, but huge pool of light up to about 10 ft.

Not quite the same league as some kit on here, but I bought a Cateye Volt 800 to go on the pushbike the other day. Made one hell of a difference to my ride home last night, and I felt I ought to switch it to a lower power mode when I got to the road to avoid blinding car drivers biggrin

I seem to have managed to kill my Olight X6, was on a long missing person search in chucking down rain and it died. Now battery pack won't take a charge. Olight, to their credit, have offered to fasttrack it through repair.

In the meantime we've got another ongoing missing person search (quite a high profile one) so I seem to have bought myself a Nitecore TM06 hehe

I use the alpkit gamma headtorch, love it and really reasonably priced too
At risk of sounding snobby the Gamma isn't in the same league as either the TH10 or HC30. I have an Alpkit Manta, the bigger brother of the Gamma (or it was) and it's a useful camping light, but for anything serious it quite literally doesn't hold a candle to the 750-1000 lumen offerings above.

Funky colours and design though. I do like Alpkit stuff but their lights aren't the greatest, even at the price.
Sorry I should have made it clear what I use it for

I use it to view my camera dials etc when underground so for that it is perfect and extremely light weight so I often forget I'm wearing it, anything brighter would get annoying for me

I did see that news article and wondered if you'd been involved.
Out of interest how come the TM06 over the TM16 - I'd have thought the latter was closer to the X6? Or were you after something lighter and floody to supplement it when it's back?

I like the idea of the coke can style Nitecore lights but my BLF A6 does what I need flood wise and I'm holding out for a deal on a high end thrower - best case something like the M3XS-UT Javelot.

Yep, we've been out Saturday evening, all day Sunday and Monday.

TM06 as I wanted something much smaller for personal carry on searches and there was a lightly used one on ebay for a good price.
