Got a bit of a roasting from swmbo yesterday.

Haven't returned the tk51 yet, then also had the two Eagletac lights and the BLF A6 arrive.

Thoughts on the A6? For the money it's very good. I think it cost me £16 after the forum discount and will do what I want of it just fine (back up torch for dog walks, needed to be bright and small)

The D25A Ti is really nice though. The machining is spot on and it looks good. I've got a none ti version too but one of my kids has claimed it. This is for me!

The MX25L3C is nice too. Very bright, need to take it out on a walk and see what the range is like. Slightly less spill brightness than the tk51 but a surprising amount of light for the size. (It's about 1/2 to 2/3 the size of the tk51)

Nitecore TM16 hasn't arrived yet.

It's my brightest single emitter light, by some margin. The UI is a bit fiddly, but at least it can be set how you prefer it. I like the moon mode in particular - rare to find one so low in a cheapie. It's well made for a Chinese torch.
The beam pattern isn't the greatest, but that's limited by the size of reflector you can get into the slim 18650 body - improvements would likely have to change the shape.

Overall, exactly this.

Interested in this sounds like it might be my next buy

I'm a big fan of the Eagletac stuff, very well made and very robust. My kids use a D25A and D25A2 as their bedtime torches and I cannot count the number of times they've been thrown/taken apart/dunked in orange juice/put in the bath but they still keep working!

You're generous with your kids - mine has an SK68 (and only then because they were sub £1.50!)

Ha! They weren't bought explicitly for them... They just kind of claimed them!

Don't care about any of that although it's good to know. I'm more interested in the way you select the levels. I can't stand scrolling through different levels with a button especially if there is only one.

Got a new hobby that is going to take all my spare cash for a while but I'll keep my eye on that.

This weapon of mass destruction turned up last week. Very impressed. It weighs more than I thought it would for such a small light. I think it's the smallest Coke can light out there?!

I'm joining this thread late so it may have been mentioned. I've bought several Cree xml torches from the 'e bay both for myself and as gifts. All have been well made. At the moment £18 gets you a 3 led 4000 lux (?) one and an extra 6 gets you the charger and batteries with it. Spend £50 and you'll be up to something like 10 LEDs and 10000 lux and that's crazy bright. I think stores have a massive mark up on these which you don't need to pay.

Looking for a compact torch for my wife dog-walking (rural/riverside) - light and easy to carry/use. Prefer USB rechargeable for simplicity.
Budget £40-£50, started with zero knowledge but looking at maybe Nitecore MH10 or Fenix PD35 after reading through several pages of this thread.
Any views on suitability or whether any better options?

FWIW - I bought the following for nighttime walks near my rural unlit home. Very pleased with it so far, used it for working in a dim engine bay too and it was excellent and it currently has 43% off. Very small (fits in jacket pocket easily), fairly lightweight and very powerful.

Olight s30/20/15/10 R models have a magnetic base station for recharging for simplicity rather than having to use with with a cable if you want a very easy way to charge it then grab and go.

Eta can't find a nitecore ph10-right model?

So, having taken some advice here and after some excitement, I ordered a little Thrunite Archer 1C v2.

After delayed postage it finally arrived, have just tested it and it seems to be stuck on strobe. The side button which supposedly changes modes does nothing. Long press of it does nothing.

Highly frustrating to have a fault straight out of the box when it was for an Xmas gift.

Any potential things I'm doing wrong or is it just going to have to go back?
Thanks

Pesty

I have the 10 and 15 r like them a lot charger is very handy they are quite small so if you use as designed and plop them back in the charger when you get back in they are great.

Back under £80 at gearbest...

Great torch, get it bought! It's not 700m but given how much flood it has, it also throws a surprisingly long way - I'd say easily usefully illuminating stuff 400-450m away depending on weather conditions.

Best place to get batteries? Same source? Is there a 'best torch batteries' thread? biggrin

UK - Torchythebatteryboy - ebay seller. A purveyor of non-exploding 18650s. I ordered a cheap set through him while I waited for the set of Nitecore's highest mah cells - again from gearbest but from China as they didn't have them in stock in the EU warehouse. Extends the run time way beyond what the torch specs state.
