Did you get a standard one or modified off Vinh? Great hand warmer and fire starter. I burnt a hole in my top last night. I'm always sure to lock it out now every time not in use. I'm seriously impressed with it.

Very impressed by the build quality and I think the size and weight are both acceptable given the light output and versatility the UI gives you.
You can run it off only 2 batteries if you want to save a bit of weight.
It also doubles up as a very effective hand-warmer when in turbo mode. thumbup

I got the standard 5700k 7450Lm one. Not sure I needed the modded one. Would be good to see them side by side though.

Plus amazon has a deal on http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00F9ZH4O6?ref_...
which gives the Pro7.2 at half price...so that is now my back up torch.

Looking forward to seeing what they are like
I'd seriously consider cancelling the latter order and looking at something like the Nitecore EA11. It replaced my (vanilla, older) Lenser T7 and a friend with a P7.2 has recently followed suit. Both being used for a similar application to yours. It's more output, just as much performance and much, much less weight. And if you know where to look (Mad Max on BLF) it can be had for similar money.
The EA11 is twice the price of the Amazon offer of the Pro7.2 for £25.99 though?

It can be had for similar. Without wishing to sound all cryptic over torches there are discounts to be had. There's a BLF forum member that sorts that stuff out and I think I've got some codes that still work - if they're of any use to anyone drop me a PM.

Would someone in the know recommend a torch type/ lantern that throws out plenty of light for a room during a power cut. We suffer from them a few times a year. Must have batteries that hold their charge when stored. Perhaps a good general purpose torch for walking around the the house

How about? I'd keep it used and charged every once in a while. All these batteries will deteriorate over time if left unused. There are other websites doing it cheaper. Fenix is a good quality brand, not the average eBay/Amazon rubbish.

Great light. I think the stock has more lumen than what my modded is but I wanted more throw. It's amazing how far it can throw for such a short stumpy light.

Any flashlight that'll tailstand will do the job of lighting a room, the reflection from your ceiling usually spreads the light enough.

CR123As have 10 year shelf life so ideal for occasional or unplanned use.

With the amount it puts out, I thought I'd rather have a semi-flood than a semi-spot and I think I made the right decision biggrin

I've played with one of those, an excellent piece of kit. Couldn't quite justify it at the time tho wink

Erm...wouldn't it just be better to take spare rechargeables, be they 18650's or 18350's?
I thought the point that Mark was making was that in a pinch if you find yourself running out of juice away from home CR123A's can be purchased from most supermarkets etc.
I always carry some CR123's. spare 18650's are my preference due to being rechargeable, but primaries will hold their charge better in low temperatures and won't lost charge over period of months like rechargeables will.

Just bought my first Fenix torch, an E35UE. Looks to be pretty powerful for its size.
Under £40 with a 18650 and charger.

Got a couple Lensers (P7 & P7.2) but this will be my first regulated torch, be good to compare.

Thanks to this thread I've just bought a Fenix UC 30
I am amazed that something so small and light can illuminate
so much .These new torches are massively better than the
old lantern torches of years ago .
The Heinnie Hayes web site is an Aladdins cave of cool stuff.

Is there much in it? Had a skim of the review and it seems much the same.

A6 is a good light though.

Banggood I would imagine. Or possibly Gearbest. The former ships from overseas (China), the latter has both China and EU warehouses but the stock is variable in the latter.
Cheap as chips compared to the UK (and genuine gear) but can be up to 5 weeks to arrive.

There was a discount code on the BLF for the A6 for EU shipping to be the same price or less than from China. I ordered mine and it was delivered in a few days. If you "Google BLF A6 code" I'm sure you'll find it.

I have to say for the money it's a fantastic torch with limited bulk and no stupid "tactical" bezel that most the cheep stuff has. It's all the torch most people without specialist requirements would ever need.

I purchased a couple of torches from that torch direct site. Complete stab in the dark 32 and 18 quid. I'll post the brands when I take a look
