as did I, but i have to wait until Xmas for it.
I went for the version with a headtorch, as I needed one. Pleased with both at that price.

So tempting to add one of these to the collection. Question though, do you have to 'scroll' through each of the seven modes each time you turn it on or off or does it remember the last mode?

I don't know who added the torch in this link as i didn't but this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170882407154?ssPageName=... remembers what the setting was when turned off but the other one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180998546497?ssPageName=... goes to the next setting upon turn off but it is easy to scroll through the different modes (just depress the on / off button a little to step to the next mode.

HTH
Indeed that does. Many thanks. All not too much of a PITA then in your view.

Had a couple of torches delivered today. A Lenser H7 headtorch and a pocket Lenser P3. Mightily impressed with the power of both for such small torches, especially the P3, only uses one AAA battery. My excitment at the parcel being delivered came with much piss taking from the other half.
They just don't get it do they.

I get the pies taken for enjoying the links in various posts and then crossing out the one I was going to get and replacing it with something even more excessive for what I need it for.

She don't feel it man!

Just ordered one of those for £9.09 so I am now in that excited period waiting for the postman.

Mind you, not expected until some time in February, so I will have forgotten I had ordered it and it'll be a nice surprise!

9 days from the far east and having dropped 3 Duracell AAAs intyo it I am sooooo pleased. Want it to get darker to see just how good it is!

£9.09 well spent! My furst one with zoom and it will illuminate my front room better than the sun does!

I don't profess to be an expert but a quick check tells me that you can get way better performance for way less money.

Have a browse through at some of the links above. My latest torch was under £10 delivered from the far east and is fabulous. Powered by 3 Durecell AAAs at the moment its really bright. When I get some better batteries in it it will be brighter still!

Welcome to the thread that just keeps on giving. I take great pleasure in boring my chime with multi lumen torches non of which have cost me fortunes.

I have taken to using Maplin rechargeable batteries and they seem to work fine for me.

Before you spend stupid money on a torch, try one of these with a 14500 battery

I guarantee you that you will not be disappointed.
I've given that a go. At under £4.00 incl postage from Hong Kong why wouldn't one, if only to join in the debate!

Oh it did, yes. Sorry about that.

It's a terrific little thing. I have taken the clip off it and it has replaced the torch I used to carry all the time (being a surveyor).

Really really pleased and I can't recommend it highly enough and at that price, what's to lose!

Wow, I have always thought Scafell Pike a complex place in the sunshine let alone night time. The heavy boulder fields must be awful by torch.

If I may be frank, although there are a few head torches around I don't think I would rely on them for such a potentially hazardous element of the challenge. I do acknowledge that doesn't help you much. I got a Lenser head torch in a set with a small torch from Maplin as a gift and its pretty good to be honest. Dim-able, flood/throw and balanced as the battery pack is on the back.

Go outdoors have some but you need a membership card for £5 to get the discounted prices there. I think they are all more than £10 in any event.

In any event best of luck for the adventure!

Don't know how many lumens but mine is my go to torch of choice. Very bright and the zoom is very easy to manage.

I have had a couple of those things in the past. What is strange, I now know, is that they aren't actually that bright, relying instead as far as I can see on quantity rather than quality of illumination. I promise you, some of the torches featured here would astound you, and not clutter up the shed!

A green one seems to have found its way into my Amazon basket and through the dark powers that is One-Click will shortly be making me slightly radioactive!

I confidently predict an expression of bewildered tolerance from wife, kids and friends. They just don't get it man!

You will also find that any number of the really quite small torches mentioned through the thread are WAY brighter than anything you can imagine.

Spending loads of money is not required either. I have a £10.00 torch with AAA batteries that is brighter than an old 3,000,000 candle power torch from B & Q. Beware though, it's a dark road that is trod by the torch nerd and even illuminated by Cree LEDS it traps the unwary!

Welcome to the dark zone. Enjoy!

May I refer the honorable gentlemen of this thread to the following in the safe and sure knowledge that they will understand what follows.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKYRAY-8500-Lumen-6x-CRE...

I am quite prepared to agree that there is no chance at all of this torch being 8500 lumens in reality. That doesn't matter.

I have plenty of torches, although the children seem to have 'borrowed' several which have subsequently been scattered around the world.

I don't really need this torch, according to my wife. My mate, however, in response to a casual dismissal of Maglites performance by me in the pub says he has a bright torch. He doesn't of course. Not really. Not like the torch porn on this site. He's never even heard of 18650's

I want a shine off, and I want to win, no, not win....I want to DESTROY his puny torch beam. He is my best and oldest friend. He will still be my best and oldest friend.....but we'll know, oh yes, we'll know.

Anyway, will I win with one of these do we think? smash
