Might be pushing it be fair. Although they do have other faster shipping options if you are happy to pay a little more.

BLF seem to recommend the 'official' Convoy store on AliExpress, is that also the same guy selling things on BangGood?

How are you finding it otherwise? Have had to talk myself out of the L6 several times already.
Right used it in anger now a few nights. Had an email back from aliexpress. The L6 cannot be programmed frown

Initially really liked carrying it, longer and thinner seemed comfortable but very quickly I noticed if I hold on the handle it dips forward, if I hold it right near the front it tops backwards slightly.

Nothing too bad just nothing I've noticed before. Might try some sort of shoulder strap to take weight from back end.

Right other than that it's a beast. I have not directly compared with the tm or tk51 as it's been misty every night here and I've been time pressured so just went out but I can tell from tests before it's going to beat them into submission.

Feels extremely well made, the anodising or whatever it is feels thick and warm* other cheap torches feel like holding cold metal if that makes sense.
The mode switch is very tactile and again just feels quality,

It's my first torch with a more orange tone to the light, this is going to get some getting used to but in the woods in pitch black didn't get dazzled like I would have. Modes are good power but again my preference would be a temporary turbo and leave it on level two.

But for that I think it would be now my favourite torch. Certainly wouldn't have blinked if it were twice as much, maybe even more.

No, Ali Express consists of separate store fronts as best I understand it. The Convoy Store on Ali Express is run by the manufacturer. With BG they're an entity in their own right, but it's all genuine Convoy gear.

The big trouble is. A Convoy S2 or S2+ will set you back about £15 including shipping. And it will outperform all of these with ease. And apart from the 1AA lights would also be the smallest.

18650 for the win really.
Thanks - I've decided to go this (non AA) route biggrin.
I looked on the aliexpress website which I found a little confusing,
all priced in USD $ and appears to show various sellers confused.

These people appear to have UK stock for around the same price:

Do you think that they are genuine Convoy?

Aliexpress is a market place, so lots of sellers.

This one is Simon, who makes Convoy lights:
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/group/Convoy-Flas...

Yes, USD$ is pretty standard for international selling/buying.

But don't feel as though you have to buy that way though.

I don't know the seller you posted, but the images look genuine enough.

I know this seller, he is genuine (the one you listed probably is too)
http://www.3tronics.co.uk/product-page/6abad179-e2...

James at 3Tronics will build you light to your spec, don't think he lists the complete lights though.

Correct think of AliExpress as a Chinese version of Amazon Marketplace. You'll find the same product from multiple vendors and at varying prices with and without post included. Look for the reviews of both the seller and the product.

Look in the top right of the page and you see a "ship to" and USD click this box and chose UK and GBP (Although I leave it in USD as my credit card give me a better exchange rate than they do.)

Question about the Convoy L6, which of those two emitters is the one to have? Or more precisely what is the real world difference to the user. I realise it the colour, 6000k vs 5000k, just wondering about user experiences.

As an aside to explain why asking, we have two nominally identical head torches, same source, same spec supposedly, yet clearly different colour, and while both have good throw, they also have different levels of flood away from the centre beam.

Thanks both thumbup.

The seller I linked to gives a mobile contact number which doesn't connect .... hmmmmm scratchchin.

I've left a message for James but looking at his components
I don't think he has all the necessary in stock (but that may be my misunderstanding).

So I've emailed Simon to ask for the colour body code for red: grey and black look
'quality' but I need all the help I can get to find a small torch in the dark smile and
I don't want to wait 20-40 days to get the wrong one!
And I'll get the T6 3B emitter.

Maybe James will get back to me first and hopefully I'll get it quicker?

I only want to buy a torch - it should be easy biggrin.

It's all about tint. Generally more neutral or warm white emitters will show up greens and browns better, so are more pleasant if you are using it anywhere rural.

Cool white tends to bleed the colours away and can make things look more grey. Although if you are in doors or in a warehouse it may appear more 'white'.

Cool white tends to emit slightly higher lumens, but you'd need an integrated sphere or lux meter to prove this over a neutral white. However tint you'll see on any output mode every time you use a torch.

As a rule neutral white emitters will have a higher CRI (colour rendition index) too.

But there really is no right or wrong, it's only preference.

Beam profile however should not change.

My own preference is 4000-4500k if possible.

What is the LED Lenser warranty like? Mine is a few years old, but has died - worth trying to get them to replace it? Or treat myself to a new one?
Pretty good when I've spoken to them. You should be able to find details on their website. Just shoot them an email or give them a call. Worst they can say is no.
I can report that their warranty is very good. Emailed them on Thursday and I've just had my new battery compartment through which has solved the issue.

Lumintop do some sexy looking lights. I really like the look of the Worm in copper or brass with the Nichia emitter but just can't find any justification for getting it. If it pops up on a deal though somewhere I'd be hard pressed not to get it.

Ordered a green S2+ from Simon, thanks for the pointers thumbup.

Just the question of which batteries and charger to 'invest' in now rolleyes.

I use a cheap charger, a Nitecore i4, and expensive(ish) batteries, Panasonic NCR18650B Protected 3400mah.

That said, the Convoys are good lights so I'm not sure how necessary it is to have protected cells, someone else on here will know more than me about that.

I upgraded from an i2 to an Xtar VC4...they both do the job fine, but it's nice to know how much charge I'm putting into the cells (and therefore how much I'm using.)
Those batteries are a safe bet.
