Lumintop do some sexy looking lights. I really like the look of the Worm in copper or brass with the Nichia emitter but just can't find any justification for getting it. If it pops up on a deal though somewhere I'd be hard pressed not to get it.
The patina has started to set in after 24 hours being exposed to oxygen, it looks quite neat, I imagine it will only get better!

I got mine over the weekend. Once I had worked out how to change modes it really really terrific.

I can report that their warranty is very good. Emailed them on Thursday and I've just had my new battery compartment through which has solved the issue.
Glad you got it sorted. It's nice when a company actually stands by their product. smile

Suggestions please...

Wifey puts horses into the field at silly o'clock am and back into the stable in the evening. The yard is miles away from anywhere and it is properly dark (ie can't see anything at all if there's no moonlight). She's tried an LED head-torch and didn't really get on with it.

She was staggered by the throw AND spread on my Fenix PD35 and would like something similar BUT it needs to be "wearable" - eg clipped to a coat front or pocket

I'm happy to spend on an 18650 torch if required, as I've already got the charger and a spare cell for the Fenix

I'm sure I've seen a half decent torch in this thread with a 90 degree angled head

Any thoughts? - budget is say £30 - £50

My suggestions would be either

Thrunite TH10 33.95 Amazon
Nitecore HC30 49.95 Torchdirect

Both available from various suppliers just listed two that were handy.

We have two TH10s, one neutral white and one cool white. Comfortable and lots of settings, from glowworm through to turbo. Can access turbo power straight from any other setting.

No direct experience of the Nitecore but sure it would also get fine. These of course are head-torches, the Nitecore can be unclipped and used separately. My daughter either uses the TH10 as a head torch or clipped to her belt.

The HC30 was going to be my suggestion, not least because if she doesn't get on with a headband she can use the pocket clip that comes with it on a breast pocket or waistband.
And it can be had for less than £50 if you know where to look (although it's a decent HT and is worth that) and can wait for a delivery from outside the UK.

Another option worthy of consideration is the Nitecore HC60. I don't own one but from a friend who does and their published stuff it seems to have a less throwy beam and is more even - better for closer work. The HC30 is still floody but has a prominent hot spot. I love it, it's my go-to for anything outdoors. But the HC60 has the possible advantage of being rechargeable by microUSB rather than needing the ability to recharge 18650's (although I firmly believe an 18650 compatible charger is a one off investment anyway.)
Doesn't appear to have a clip to use it as a 90 degree type light though, whereas the HC30 does.

Torch suggestion please?

Got a mine Q5 style torch from ebay years back, cost me 2 quid, now defective.

It needs to have a clip on like this does (this is what I'm using at the moment). I'm looking at simialr stuff, but ebay seems to be a minefield of fake crap and 20p torches from China that might be brighter than the sun or just a pile of tosh. Its impossible to tell.

It's going to clip onto an outer jacket. £20 budget (max). Ideally something a little longer but thinner, like a pen light I guess, but needs to be able to clearly illuminate the back and inside of a car as I approach it on a vehicle stop (law enforcement), or give a good spread across a field, alleyway etc. Not fussed about fancy strobe/sos settings etc. I'm currently using a D-Cell Maglite, which albeit is handy if you need something heavy in your hand, sometimes the sheer size and weight are an issue.

I've got an eye on these at the moment

To give an idea of what I'm looking at.

Thanks.

For starters you're going to want to run any of those options above with rechargeable 18650's rather than 2xCR123A's or you'll spend a fortune on batteries. They need a smart charger but this is a steal at it's current price:
http://www.gearbest.com/chargers/pp_424662.html?wi...
It'll charge li-ion batteries and more traditional NiMH batteries, and won't overcharge them.

For a cheap 18650 powered light with a bit of throw but also usable spill I'd seriously consider the Thorfire VG10 whilst it's on offer at £10, from what I've seen it looks like a good budget all-rounder:
http://www.banggood.com/ThorFire-VG10-XM-L2-4modes...

The Convoy S2+ is also a very good contender but I suspect the Thorfire will have a bit more throw for searching fields etc, whereas the S2+ is a great close-medium range light. Likewise the BLF A6.

All that having been said, if you can stretch the budget - and know where to look - for around the £30 mark you could have a Nitecore EA11:
http://flashlight.nitecore.com/product/ea11

Personally I think of it as a bit of a goldilocks light - bright enough up close, nice hotspot and throw for open areas and it's very light. Runs off either a li-ion 14500 (900 lumens) or an AA (200 lumens) so you've got a bit of flexibility. It'll have noticeably less runtime than an 18650 powered light, but a spare battery is cheap and weighs nothing.
I know a couple of people in a similar line of work who have EA11's and are very happy with them.

Nitecore TIP ordered:
http://flashlight.nitecore.com/product/tip

360 lumen keyring light, microUSB rechargable. I've got a few of the older 45 lumen NC Tube's and they're great so this seems like a no-brainer. There was an issue with the lockout mode not working/parasitic power drain but apparently they've fixed it now. And allegedly Banggood have stock of the V2 version with that issue sorted, so I've ordered a couple.
They also do a lower output high CRI version but I've got my eye on another light to see how the Nichia 219B emitter actually looks; people on BLF etc seem to rave about it, but until I've tried it given the choice I've been going down the Clarkson-esque route of choosing more power every time.
Just found this, I love this torch, how much is it and where from?

Edited to add.

Ok found it, but why wont banggood deliver it to the uk? £24.04 delivered on banggood, £31.94 including delivery from the nitecore store or £30ish from Amazon? I'm not in a hurry so I dont mind waiting

Me too. Taking it out on a night hike tonight. Will be guaranteed to out-shine all others there.

Only problem is, even the neutral white (the one I have) is too yellow tinted for my liking. The A6 also is very picky about batteries, mine will flicker if I use the FJD cells when switching to the highest output mode. It's fine with Eagletac and Panasonic cells.

IMO the Lumintop Prince is a far better light, even though it has fewer brightness modes. The white is actually white. Although you probably won't get it for £26 any more.

Tiny is lovely on the A6. Ok if you are white wall hunting it obviously looks warmer. While nasty cool white tints might look whiter. But the reality is, daylight isn't cool white either. Shout me the A6 at grass or a wooded area and it'll be full of colour, where cool white tends to bleech these sorts of colours and makes things look more greyish in hue.

As for batteries, just run Samsung 30Q's. They out perform almost all other 18650's and certainly are top in terms of performance/£ ratio. Plus they fit almost everything.

No the tint is clearly too warm to be neutral white. I've owned plenty of neutral white tinted torches over the years and the A6 is clearly not neutral white, even though that is the option I picked at checkout.
