Well, for 35 quid you are talking about something Chinese, direct from a Chinese website.i've got 4 spare anyway!
But your budget will not allow for a 4x18650 torch.
The newest brightest LED is the Cree XM-L
How about this 2x18650 torch for £31.71 post free:
FandyFire STL-V6 CREE XM-LT6 2-Mode 1000-Lumen White LED Flashlight (2x18650/3x16340/3x123A)
Buy it here: Dealextreme

You can get this from China, within budget:

SST-50 LED, not a Cree XM-L, but still awesome.
If you want the best, current, LED torch then it is the Olight SR90, 2200 lumens, 1000 metre range, 30 watts, 6x18650s! A cool £315.

I also got caught up in the torch threads (and then torch forums), after going into one wondering how there can be a whole thread about torches!
I thought I wanted a Maglite 3D...
I ended up with a Fenix LD40 (and a Maglite 5D )
Not cheap, but it's such a nice usable torch. Fits my hand perfectly and is bright enough for anything I need.

Oh and "forums for pretty much everything" - Why do I find http://www.bananas.org so fascinating? I know it sounds crazy but once you read a few threads you really get into it

Well, Duracell is a top brand of Alakaline batteries.
But most torch enthusiasts whos use AAs prefer Sanyo Eneloop Ni-MH rechargeables.
Amazon do them: Eneloops

Back on the subject of torches, a recent birthday present from the Mrs:
to be used as a winter evening dog-walking torch, to go with my Fenix LD20 (glovebox torch) and Nitecore D10 (EDC). Can't believe how powerful the TK12 is, just ridiculous. No more standing in dog eggs down country footpaths for me
