Random forum browsing is dangerous - this thread has just encouraged me to buy a Fenix UC35!
Haha, I'm somehow managing to refrain. I have several perfectly good torches, and what I actually need to buy at the minute is a decent bike light so I can get outside and shift the christmas bulk!

As I am too lazy to trawl through all the pages....have we had a discussion about Mini torches, the kind that will fit on a key ring?
thanks

I've just got an Olight S10 as a torch to leave clipped on my lifejacket. It appealed as it ran on CR123a which have a long lifespan so I can have spares kicking around in my kit bag, and it has a moonlight mode ideal for map work. It's great, barely bigger than the battery itself and 400 lumens.

Well impressed. I'm still torn between the olight SR Mini and the Nitecore TM06 as my main light.

Am looking for some new 18650's, and - stupidly - didn't read the description properly on these ones:
http://www.banggood.com/NCR-3100mAH-18650-3_7-V-Li...

'For Panasonic,' obviously not actual Panasonic branded 18650's. Should have paid more attention to the description/price.

So, the first question - what should I get instead?
And secondly, is it worth taking a punt and sticking them in my Nitecore I2 and given them a go or should I just bin them?

Well, to answer my post of a month or so ago about a small keyring light, I bought one of these;

It cost the princely sum of £8 or so and arrived today from China. And it's very good, particularly given the price. The switch is a little bit stiff, and it only has only two modes ('On' and 'Off'!) but it's pretty much the same size as a small keyring maglight and feels significantly better made. It's surprisingly bright for such a small thing and I'm very happy with it thus far. It's certainly better by a country mile than the cheapo thing from Amazon that was recommended earlier on this thread ( this one .)

Latest acquisitions...

Nitecore EA41 and a couple of Nitecore Tubes.

The EA41 replaces the Lenser X21 that I used for work, it's just as bright but a lot more compact and has a more useful range of brightness levels. And it runs on good old NiMH AA cells rather than the four alkaline Ds that the X21 used.

I bought the pink Tube for the mrs (that sounds a bit dubious...), it's small enough to go on her keys and recharges via micro USB, and as they're only eight quid I got myself a blue one too. Brilliant little things, about the size of a USB flash drive and produces a nice even, wide spread of light. Surprisingly bright too, and variable between 1 and 45lm output. Very impressed with them!

Try running it on a 10440 3.7v lithium instead wink

I think it only takes an AAA battery, none of that fancy-dancy lithium rubbish! smile

I've got an EA41 too, generally it's OK, it eats Eneloops on high power though and I find the size a bit awkward. I think it's replacement will need to fit batteries in a different arrangement.

10440 is AAA size, although you do stand a chance of melting the torch a little bit with the extra voltage. But if it survives, it'll be MEGABRIGHT.
That's the joy of DX - so cheap, you can mess about and just not care evil

Bloody thread. More stuff I didn't know I had to have. (At least these are at the cheaper end of the spectrum.)

Yep me too. It's made all my other lamps look positively feeble. Only drawback for me is the use of AAA batteries and I need to, positively just desperately must, set myself up with some kit that uses Carlos Fandango rechargeables.

Damn you torch thread.

A question for the congregation.

I have a 3x18650 torch which is terrific. I have a set of 4 batteries. What should I get to use the 'spare' 18650 in. Brighter the better as I walk 2 dark dogs down a dark lane and like a bright torch to scare away the bogeymen.

An option for sure, but pricey.

I took a stroll over to dx.com and now have 3 torches, a head torch and a green laser pointer on its way to me with assorted chargers and batteries for £31.00 odd, including delivery.

Terrific bit of kit on the whole, but I bin the cheap chargers and nasty batteries.

I love torches.

I have been given free reign to buy a pair of torches for the youngsters to take camping in the summer.

Looking for recommendations for something that takes AA batteries,is ideally rubberised and maybe has a handle.

Any thoughts? Can't be too big, and under £10...

Go with head torches for camping, much much much more useful. Would AAA do?

Not got either, have had an older HT from Alpkit before though and it probably sees more round the house use than any of my more powerful torches. If you can stretch to £14 the second link should be a fair bit brighter:
