Hi all, not had my Lumia 800 for long, really enjoying it, had a problem today though, I phoned someone for it to go to voice mail, when I tried to end the call, the screen was blank, nothing would activate it, not even the buttons would activate, holding down the power button sorted it.
I have the newest update from Nokia, anyone els having this problem?
When you are in-call, look at the phone and put a finger over the top right part of the screen (to the left of the nokia name) That is the sensor that turns of the screen when you have the phone at your ear. uncover it and cover it up a few times and see if it works.
Could be a dodgy sensor

I tried turning everything off and setting screen brightness etc. to low and it's still at 120-130 how on earth did you get it down to 70? My phone has had all the updates too.
You might not be able to download the new update yet, it only came out in the UK in the past couple of days so not all the carriers have it yet.
Having read the thread again it appears I'm running the old firmware but Orange are not offering the update yet, fingers crossed they do it soon as I am losing my patience with the fecking thing.
Just had an update for my phone, it has bought the figure down to around 75-85 so fingers crossed this makes a noticeable difference.

Busy applying the update to my 800 now (on Orange). Will report back on battery consumption.

This has happened a few times, and I've wiped my finger over the sensor to get rid of the grime. Screen pops back on.

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. I was away from my charger today, the phone battery discharged completely, back at home plugged it in to the wall socket. Because the battery was completely dead I knew it might take some time for it to register charge. Its been 2 hours now and nothing frown won't turn on, just a paper weight at the moment.

Just wondering if anyone els has had this problem or know any way to fix it?

Really wanted to like this phone but its becoming hard frown Hope I just have a faulty one.

Thanks

James.

Update. I Took it out of the wall charger and decided to try plugging it in to my computer. It vibrated and booted up.
The plug that came with it did work though as it charged the phone what I first bought it.

All seems ok now, just must remember always to keep enough power in it.

Had this with mine before now. Press the volume down button then hold it with the power button and you should feel it vibrate leave it for a bit and it should come back into life.

Hi Lee,

Many thanks for the reply, it seems to have woken up now but will try that sequence if it happens again.

James.

It's happened to mine a few times, the procedure described reboots it but it's a pain.

Yes, I spoke to the chap that runs my local 3 store today. He has sold his Lumia 800 to Mazuma or similar because of this problem.

Quick update. The handset that I got November last died a sudden and probably not unexpected (with hindsight) death. Complete failure one evening. Orange replaced it with a new one the next day, which I have to say in comparison is bloody brilliant for battery life.

Lost the earphone last week, people could hear me but I couldn't hear them, tried the speakerphone too with no luck. Thought it was water ingress from the rainstorm I got caught in last week.

I tried the diagnostic menu, using the feedback loop and both the speaker and earphone worked.

I was about to make the call and send it off to be repaired, but then I had a brainwave and checked the "in call" volume. Yep, it was set to zero. t**t banghead

Just had a message pop up to say another update is available for my 800. Before I commit to it, does anyone know what benefit is to be had this time round?

Have just completed the update and the battery consumption does seem to have gone down.

Only one update away from Win7.8 now! woohoo
