Yes but there has been a whiff of Windows 7.8 coming for something like 8 months. It seems to have been continually delayed and my manufacturer Samsung still hasnt released it

Quick search shows 7.8 was mentioned June last year with it due outt early 2013 which is what I recall

As a consumer - if my W7 device bites the dust in a years time I think I would be dubious about buying another Windows phone if they have announced Windows 8.

What dya mean if they have announced Windows 8?

You've been able to buy a windows 8 phone for months, the lumia 820/920 both run 8.

I meant 9. In a years time I'd be reluctant to buy an 8 if a 9 has been announced.

Also they still haven't introduced a way of stopping the screen rotating - almost reason enough to get a different OS!

Not sure if serious. Please tell me you're joking.

(There's a hidden meme joke in there.)

Which provider? I'm with Vodafone and am about ready to firebomb Nokia.

It must have done another update at the same time without me realizing that's the version number I also have.

No problem with the phone itself, it's Nokia NZ that deserves a swift kick up the ass for the slackness of the update ( the initial one that was meant to be rolled out in February ). There is absolutely no reason why it should have taken that long, considering Vodafone approved the update in October '12.

I may be deluding myself but battery life seems much better on my Lumia 710 since going to WP 7.8. Anyone had a similar experience?

I had an update on my 920 a week or so ago, I'm not sure what update it was however the battery life now is heaps better than when I bought it a month ago.

WP 7.8 forced update worked a treat. Took very long but happy with the outcome.

I updated my 900 using the Zune disconnect trick. Worked a treat. Had a minor update since doing it. Not really seen much difference apart from the tile resizing.

I'm due an upgrade from my 800, I can have an 820 for free or a 920 for £179, is the 920 really that much of a better phone?
