Then I suggest a zag, ate, or a Bluetooth keyboard. I have no issues with speed, except for some dodgy proof reading, and crappy spell checking.
Great! So after spending £400 on the thing I have to spend more money so I can actually use it properly? Yeah I can really see the advantages of these things over, say, a netbook or a cheap laptop. Incidentally if you read my original post rather than exploding in a fanboy rage, you will see that I already use a work provided Bluetooth Keyboard. And it's still pish.
I'm sorry but to paraphrase Lock Stock.....iPads for show, laptops for a pro.

Please excuse my obvious fanboy rage here...but how can one be good and one be bad using the same variety of input device?
as If I were to send an email on either my iPad or laptop, the ipad would of sent the message before my laptop had even booted up!
I bet you a can of spam that you'll never see Office on an iOS device fellow nerds.
Some of you folks may be clued up about your tech but the business logic is shocking.
(and before anyone rants and raves about Office on a Mac - I know) :P I'm talking about on an iOS operating system.
I'm not here to get anyone's backs up - it's just my opinion that MS will never ever allow Office on an iPad (although I'd love to see it without a hack). That is all.

Nobody actually uses a tablet for work do they? Unless you're using a bespoke business app they're just toys!
I can't see any reason you'd choose a tablet over a laptop if you use something like Office regularly in your line of work. Anything that involves complex interaction is laborious on a touch screen. Even copying and pasting is a pain in the arse by comparison.
That said, it wouldn't surprise me if there's a version of Office released for tablet devices. It's such a familiar that people will probably go for it regardless of its practicalities. People tend to stick to what they know.

This is my point. iPads are basically toys - for use primarily at home, on the train or whatever. They haven't managed too well at cracking the business market as they don't share too many apps that businesses use today (like Office).MS knows this, so if they make their future tablets for use at both home and work (like a PC) it actually creates a huge amount more wealth than allowing a cheap run down version of office on the main competitors tablet (iPad).

You do know laptops can be put to sleep in the same way as an ipad? This means you can be back at a windows desktop in seconds. but how can one be good and one be bad using the same variety of input device?

Not entirely sure what your link is supposed to prove TheHeretic? As I dont recall Android tablets being mentioned?

Anyway, this thread isn't about the iPad being a toy, or not as good as a laptop. As usual, folks simply want to give it beans.

does office 365 work on the ipad?
Yes, we're currently piloting it at work and it works well with the ipad 2. If you have the right license you can use the web apps to edit documents that can be stored in a SharePoint site. Solves a lot of problems for us and the heavy ipad users think it's great.TheHeretic said:
Someone said they haven't done well at cracking the business market, so I posted the enterprise stats. Seems apt for a thread about bringing an important app to iOS, and others. I thought that would be quite obvious.

I thought the contention was about whether touch-screen tablets are practical for administrative type business, regardless of the OS.
