Raspberry Pi - Who's gonna have a dabble?
Discussion
Been enjoying playing around with mine so far. First attempt was just plain Raspbian and got that up and running with network shares and VNC setup, took a while to do but was very rewarding.
Second time around it is now a media center running Kodi and some addons to enable streaming off the interweb, working well so far but not tried it much.

just been playing with the pi-mote for energenie..
i bought the radio kit with 2 remote plugs, so i can turn sockets on and off with the pi2. only tried the basic software so far this moring which turns them on and off in sequence.. simple enough once i'd upgraded everything so rpi.gpio would work on the pi2.
also got their IR module which can read and then reproduce controller signals.. so turn on tvr power, then turn on sky box and set channel etc from the pi.. via the web...

Where's the best place to get cases? RS seem to only have white, black and clear. Quite fancy a crazy one for the 2.

Well I hear it's really for the Internet of Things isn't it?
So maybe as a IoT control centre and have a play around with that technology for the first time.
Rather than PH , why not go to the horses mouth. So maybe as a IoT control centre and have a play around with that technology for the first time.

So had a play with my Pi2.
Got one SD card that is running RasPlex that interacts nicely with the Plex Media server running on my PC.
Also got another image that is doing my ADS-B aircraft tracking. Just a shame I've got it working late on a Sunday evening when there are very few aircraft up there.
So just need to try and get both running on the same image. I wouldn't want to have to buy a second Pi would I

Where are people buying their Pi 2 from?
RS Components say out of stock until 30th March, and no compatible SD cards until end of April.
They used to do a complete kit; Pi, case, SD card, PSU. That's what I bought for my B ages ago.
Pimoroni only do a complete kit with a mouse and keyboard, which I don't want. While I can buy a Pi with the cool rainbow case, I can't add an SD card to the basket. SD cards only seem to be mentioned as part of that starter kit with mouse and keyboard.
I first looked about a month back. Thought I'd wait awhile and see if things got better, which they haven't...

Amazon?
I really should have thought of that!Got through Amazon; a combination of the Pimoroni Pi 2 with the rainbow case, an official Pi 2 charger, and a 16Gb class 10 card with NOOBS already on it.
I've been playing with Plex at home, so I want to see Rasplex running. Might take a look at OSMC, the new RaspBMC as well...
Might replace my old Model B running Frodo RaspBMC!
You guys seen this?

Quite similar spec wise to the Cubieboard (CC-A80) that I bought.
Only, I bet that probably has better manufacturer support! I've gotten pretty good at Linux instruction in Chinglish...
The RasPi 2 is pretty tempting though, I used mine as a mini XBMC box for a while, but the stutters when navigating the pages did my head in!

I've finally accepted that I need a dedicated device to handle media streaming from the NAS to the TV, as the processor on our TV can't cope with half the file formats I use and anything 1080p is buffertastic.
I don't want another desktop PC in the house so I got a WDTV Live but it was a bit too buggy to rely on, so I came back to see what's going on with the Pi to use as a Plex server. I recall the first generation were right on their limits transcoding 1080p video so the Pi 2 seems to be the perfect solution. But they're out of stock for a couple of months
