No worries.

Has anyone played with Pi Musicbox?
A move is shortly on the cards and I don't have enough Sonos devices to fill the house, yet I've got a spare PI lying around doing random duties, so I figured I'd convert to something which will play Spotify et al..

Thoughts, pit falls, gotchas etc?

Yup, I really liked it as a Pi based solution.
However:
  • it always felt a bit clunky, but if you have the time there's no reason you can't re do the UI.
  • It didn't always seem to update with new playlists
  • having to add new stations via the command line (for streams) was a bit cumbersome.
But mostly, it's really good. Easy to set up , does everything it says, stable, and lots of functionality.
However, I've now dropped it in favour of Chromecast Audios, as it's just a neater solution.

My War Driver / Network Bridge

I continue to struggle with power on this setup.
it works if I power it from 2 sources.. i.e via usb AND via the gpio at the same time.. but that not very mobile!

I use it to bridge all the local wifi's that i have obtained access to at home to I can easily sniff traffic from behind a NAT'ed fire-walled connection using randomly generated mac addresses whilst not having to directly connect to each network individually.

still very much a work in progress smile

Is your username suggesting what we should all have if we see you anywhere nearby?

Nahh wink

Ill mostly just be using it as a proxy to protect myself on hotel/free wifi, and use hotspots for free using a few simple tools.

like ssh/sshuttle over port 53/80/443 or iodine ip over dns

Same sort of thing as this?

They have a great video on youtube somewhere where they set it up as "free public wifi" in an airport terminal...

It just means I create a single star topography network from nearby wifi hotspots with the pi at the centre.

I connect them all together with a bridge and then apply robust firewall rules to stop anyone on those networks using that bridge to gain access to my own via the ethernet.

With this in place I will be able to resolve the hostnames of all devices on the remote lans and even divert my own traffic through their routers. Or divert their traffic through each others.

But the main use wont be for grey hat activities. Just self defence against dragnet surveilence smile

Any other info on this (guide etc?) seems an interesting project.

ive tweaked the /boot/config.txt by adding/uncommenting the line

max_usb_current=1

https://projects.drogon.net/testing-setting-the-us...
http://hackaday.com/2015/04/06/more-power-for-rasp...

and power it from the microusb and the gpio at the same time from my usb battery feeding the pi a steady 3A overall.

Has anyone else had issues with micro sd cards formatting themselves, onto my third card now! Most recently issue was caused by brief loss of power anyone got any ideas how to eliminate this issue?

mooooar!!

Kids will be losing their pi zero's to embedded projects soon, so the pi 3 will fit in with things nicely...

A somewhat heavy duty solution!

Are the mobile chargers (as in, portable battery with USB output) capable of running a Pi and charging, with uninterrupted switch over?
Yes, I know it's a UPS by another name.
