I could've sworn all of five minutes ago they were saying on the forums there was no plan for a model 3. They're as secretive as Apple about new models.

Is the network port still restricted by USB?

Are the mobile chargers (as in, portable battery with USB output) capable of running a Pi and charging, with uninterrupted switch over?
My main battery pack (a 12,000mAh Kit) certainly is, not tried the other, smaller ones I have lying around.

Not sure I'd leave any lithium battery pack on charging+discharging long-term unless they were specifically rated for it though...

They don't have much choice if they don't want to be stuck with lots of the old models / periods of limited sales and annoyed 3rd party retailers.

Yesterday I managed to fry a Pi2 and so was about to order a new one when I noticed it was reduced everywhere, which seemed odd. A quick google and came up with rumours of the FCC testing a new one. So i hung fire (and ordered a Pi3 this am). Great timing for me, but if they pre-warned everyone would stop buying the old model they second they announced it.

Interestingly it needs a different power supply - I bought a new approved one given it was the wrong power supply that caused the issue in the first place.

A side discussion, but worth a chuckle because it really does sum the government up with respect to these kinds of things.

Interesting timing, given that the Pi Zero is still selling out as quickly as they can get new stocks in.

How often do they get new stocks? I have been having a look this morning at getting a Pi 3 and/or a Zero, was quite surprised to see they are out of stock.

My Pi 2 is getting good use as a Open Elec box so need something else to mess with smile

Mmm, so actually what happened is that Paypal was charged, but I haven't got any order confirmation. Emailed their support, who just closed the case today without responding.

Off to raise a dispute in PayPal frown

Maybe there's more to that rejection, but taking it at face value then it is first class muppetry on the part of their independent "expert".

Arrives tomorrow apparently.

Can anyone recommend a keyboard/mouse combo that will work with the built-in bluetooth?

How about this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rii-Rechargable-Comfortabl... ?

Thanks,

It seems to vary, I just keep an eye out on my Twitter feed for Pimoroni announcements.

great news on the pi3, but is anyone else surprised by what appears to me a muted response, especially when compared with the pi zero where the internet went crazy, perhaps just because it was only £4?

for my part, I've got a b, b+ and a 2 and the original B is still working great and on 24/7,

I will pick up a 3 but in reality the 2 will do everything I ask. I guess it mainly that its still the same problem with usb and network all on the same chip and that's the limiting factor for me anyhow. Add a gigabit network port and separate usb and I would have bought immediately. There are other great boards but none have the great community support of the pi.

Anyhow, I hope the pi foundation continues to grow and perhaps we will get a Feb 2017 pi 4!

I hear you,

Im not sure what im going to do with my 3 yet.

Ive debated retiring my B rev2 from Kodi Duty, but its doing that job well enough, and is cabled into the Ethernet just fine where it is and i'd end up wasting the extra features of the pi3 doing that - namely the wifi and the BT

I think the Pi3 will make a better portable Pentesting and bluejacking device than the b+ im currently using.
Add on some SDR and i could have some real fun with this thing smile
