desyboy said: If you order it from RS now, they list some cases for about £5 in the accessories. Yup. I ordered two cases, but annoyingly the clear case wasn't in stock (I got one black, one white).

I'd like to use one of these headless as a proxy / web filter to speed up web access and prevent the kids from viewing anything they shouldn't. As I know almost nothing about Linux, what would be the simplest way to achieve this?

Had the "your raspberry pi has been dispatched" email.
Now, just got to remember where I left everything. PSU - check, keyboard - check, SD Card - hmmm...

Raspbmc seems to have the flakiest OS installation method I've ever seen. Are there any standard images of it I can just dd onto an sdcard?
ETA: Nevermind. 4th time lucky. Best image it myself now!

OK. So the 'nerds' are having a fiddle but what about the education market? This is where they are really aiming it towards. Anyone know how well its doing in that sector? Because if it fails there it may be a dead duck.

I don't think they're targeting the education market yet?
Isn't the idea for the nerds to iron out the software glitches while they build up documentation for the education market first?

Really? I found it extremely straightforward. Where did you have trouble?

Yeah they won't try to get it into schools till it has full documentation and better support. IIRC They have shipped 200k units now, so its not going to be long before we start seeing cool things. Already one been into near space!!

Really? I found it extremely straightforward. Where did you have trouble? It's a very straightforward process, just flakey! It would seem to reach error scenarios, such as trying to rm a file which didn't exist, then just bomb out only to try again, looping forever. A couple of times it just left me with a solitary red light and no display output. Curiously it just worked eventually though.
