I'll be looking to remove the analogue audio and video completely, and resolder a header for the USB connections - don't suppose you know of a header that would fit those pins?

How much of that is the power supply?

Connected to the mains through a cheap micro USB charger. Not that it proves a lot but without the Pi connected the plug in energy meter was showing 0 watts for the power adapter - the adapter has an LED on the front so I doubt it's the most efficient.

ETA, look at what just arrived:

I've managed to get hold of a model of the board (I'm way down the list at RS for a physical board) and am thinking of designing a case for it.

Does the thread have any suggestions for a design? I quite fancy making it look like an utterly unrelated object.

I'm waiting to have the real one before I start to model a case for it.

Because I have very little imagination and it takes me that long to think of something hehe

Why the hell do you think I'm asking here? hehe

Seriously though, I've got all the kit here to design something decent so if I can come up with an idea I'll do it properly, but open, in the spirit of the project.

It should really be in the shape of a tiny BBC Micro, or the "cheese wedge" second processor / teletext adaptor box.

I did have the idea some time ago about putting it in something like a 8-Track case or NES cartridge hehe

I've got the second Pi lined up as a birthday present for a colleague who I know will do impressive things with it. Although seeing them fetch £200+ on eBay this is turning into a very generous birthday present! biggrin I wasn't expecting to end up with two, I assumed one of the orders wouldn't have made the first batch.

I've made a couple of videos this evening. The first is running Debian, showing some web browsing, I'm not sure if it was so slow to open the browser because it was restoring two tabs, or because it was struggling to also run as a VNC server, but it gives you a little idea of what to expect (it's usually a bit snappier):

The CPU usage is the green graph, bottom right.

The second video is me accessing Wordpress running on Fedora on the Pi, should give a feel for the speed of the device. I doubt the early iterations of the available OS's are making the most of the hardware:

Don't care what it looks like but would like the option for it to be VESA mountable...

Yup that kinda thing! Ideally with a beige-ish case and brown vinyl nameplate.
