ZFS is software Raid.
It just gives you some redundancy if a drive fails so you dont lose everything if one ( of more ) drives fail. ( depending on options taken setting it up )

Getting very frustrated with raspberry PI. They seem to be in a complete ding dong with Microsoft about UWP.
Pi say they aren't responsible for any drivers for the board and its microsofts job, Microsoft say the board supplier is responsible for certification of the drivers.
Shame because other boards seem to have this better sorted

+1Latest RP 3 has a reasonable CPU, for an ARM, but low RAM, only 1GB.
I assume that's not expandable ;-<
Anyone know of a beefier ARM based SBC with more RAM ?
If it runs Linux, even better. Otherwise I'll wait for the RP 4 or 5.

Only because I find c# very easy an intuitive. Raspian and c++ was a nightmare of incompatibility and poorly written libraries making any sort of graphical interface a giant supermare. When it works great, when it doesn't you spend days going through code only to find online that everyone has the problem and its down to some known glitch.Running linux and a much more lightweight language Ecosystem than Dot Net is the way forward.

Phython is good at getting things done fast, but is so slow as to be useless and the minute you start anything time critical there are giant gaps when phython has given its processor time back to the op.
UWP is fun because I can have a single program which is almost genuinely cross platform, and of course VS makes graphical interfacing a breeze.

Can you not attempt to write some drivers and make them available on Git ?
I suppose you can always stump up the £££ for the Intel Edison and use that instead

Problem with learning that is when you want to start making a graphic interface. It'll be like learning a whole new language which doesn't lend itself very well to c. Think massive pointer arrays, and pointer to pointers. I should probably stop whinging and change but I really like .net( im currently slowly working through this beauty https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi/issues/essential... )

On my Pi2 I've got a 1TB hard drive connected via a WD Pidrive cable, which is a great design to power both the drive and the pi from the same power supply, and while connecting the drive to the Pi's other USB port. Does anything similar exist to power a conventional USB hard drive in the same way?

My Zero-W turned up today. Not going well so far.
Installed OSMC on it, and using the power supply and cable that usually runs my Pi 2 with a Pi drive attached, so plenty of power. Have plugged in a keyboard to the USB slot in order to set it up. Every time I press a key on the keyboard the HDMI signal drops out for 30 seconds or more. Any ideas what might be happening? I've tried 2 different keyboards attached with 2 different adapters so hopefully not a keyboard fault.
