If, when setting up your phone, you simply added your GMail account, it will have automatically synced your contacts from your Desire S through GMail. You can remove them all and start again (and indeed, this may be easier). The other thing the phone can do is to include all your contacts from other sources (Facebook, Hotmail, Twitter, Skype etc). In the Contacts, click on the 'Phonebook' top left to see which accounts are being synced/displayed and how many contacts there are in each. You can select which ones you see and which you don't there.

Wl having owned it for a few months, battery life is now just what my Desire used to be and needing to be charged every night.

Love the phone though

I only had it set for phone contacts. After a bit of messing, I ended up with over a thousand! Some were duplicated 8 or 9 times.
I ended up deleting the lot til there was only one of everything in Your Orange. Deleted everything off the phone, then backed up from Your Orange. Now only have one of everything, with nothing syncing.
The phone is awesome. Battery is doing really well upto yet with the hammer it has had today. Still loads left.

Dropped mine last night. £100 at vodafone later I'll have it back by Friday.

Looks like a nightmare to DIY - the digitiser and LCD are bonded together so a pain in the arse to just replace one bit. A digitiser and screen is over £100, so it was a bit of a no brainer.

Apparently CPW do them for £80. HTC charge £1-200 I think.

Anyone recommend a slim case for one? Something that'll help stop knocks.

I am quite taken by the S Line silicon cases on Ebay and Amazon (seem cheaper on EBay). They are cheap and cheerful. I have been using them for about 2 years now. Never had a problem with them, and they have saved my phones more than once.
With them and a screen protector, my much used but now obsolete Desire S looks box fresh.

I'm getting mightily pissed off with HTC. I'm running a T Mobile Sensation and a Vodafone Hero in the car together and I've worked through god knows how many headsets that can connect to both at the same time.

Thought it was the headsets performing badly and my latest Jabra Supreme seemed to be superb, but that's now giving a lousy performance and people often can't hear me.

So it's got to be the phones, hasn't it?

Another little problem is T Mobile's offer to load me up with a newer Android version this weekend. Now my frequently used internetty bookmarks have disappeared and I can only get them from a huge list of hundreds of bookmarks from Chrome.

I is not 'appy...irked

Just got this phone. Bought without screen working, followed a YouTube tutorial and fixed it.

Need to get a micro sim from giffgaff, but does anyone know how to sim unlock the phone? Is it a case of trying to find a local phone repair shop (Do they still exist?)

I got mine network unlocked through someone on eBay for about £1.80...

Currently on Android Revolution HD 9.3.0 and getting unbelievable battery life:

and that's with a fair bit of 'screen on' time too:

Happy bunny!

Sim cut and phone unlocked. Very nice to use.

Having some issues with WiFi dropping out which appears to be a common problem.

Has rooting solved this?

Whereas mine has never had any problems, ever. I'd question that, as I thought this was due to the antenna being broken or somesuch?

Presume you've done a reset etc?

Only time mine ever gets caught out is with multi-router setups. I've got a few apple airport expresses littered around the house and and it can't handle them - wifi off and back on again fixes it though. They don't seem to be trailblazing when it comes to quality control with the One X though.

Yep no luck. If I turn off and on again the WiFi kicks back in. Just annoying.

Vodafone OTA update for android 4.0.4 and sense 4.1 available for download.
Settings>about>software updates.

Has reduced lag on the home screen and when opening the app drawer, plus you can reassign the 'running apps' key to a menu key smile

It's a doddle. You need HTCdev to get the unlock key, push the recovery to the phone (no S-Off yet) then Nandroid backup, install ROM. Easy as that.

It's possible to recover from pretty much anything - don't worry about bricking your phone. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine. I use ClockworkMod Recovery and Android Revolution HD ROM with a stock kernel. The battery life is insanely good.

Is there a full list of the changes? Can't say it feels any faster, besides perhaps the placebo effect now that you've said it! hehe

ARHD is on v9.7.0 but I'm still on version 9.3.0 as it's a non 'experimental build' version. Earlier versions can be downloaded here: http://d-h.st/users/M3PH/?fld_id=2192#files

I like the stock look, I just like it faster/smoother with a MUCH improved battery life. I think I'd flashed and rooted it within a week of getting it! hehe
